A holddown pin mechanism for hydraulic power units is a ball guide with a cylindrical flat base having a central opening, a plurality of spaced elongated holddown pins have one end rigidly secured to one side of said ball guide. The pins extend outwardly at right angles from the side of said washer to which they are secured. The holddown pin mechanism is placed in a hydraulic cylinder block having a center bore, with the pins extending into holes in the block. A flat washer on a shaft extending through the block engages the free ends of the pins.

One piece slipper holddown device

A vane-type fluid displacement unit having a housing, a drive shaft extending through the housing, a rotor secured to the drive shaft and disposed within the housing, the rotor having at least one non-smooth top or bottom surface, and at least one vane secured to the rotor.

Low input torque rotor for vane pump

A charge pump is provided with two independent outlets that can satisfy the pressure requirements of both a charge circuit and an auxiliary circuit. Preferably, the charge pump is a multiple roller vane pump that has at least one inlet and two outlets independent of each other. The first outlet is in fluid communication with a charge circuit, and the second outlet is in fluid communication with an auxiliary circuit. Because the two outlets are independent of each other, the roller vane pump is able to satisfy the pressure requirements of both the charge and auxiliary circuits. Preferably, the two outlets are diametrically opposed to each other, thereby reducing the load on the driveshaft. Additionally, the roller vane pump may include a second inlet independent of the first.

Charge/auxiliary circuit for reducing power losses in hydrostatic systems

Disclosed is a closed cavity piston made from a metal injection molding process. The piston has an elongated cylindrical body with a first end that is adapted to receive a slipper. The piston also has at least one hollow compartment and a hollow stem that transports hydraulic fluid. After the metal injection molding process an end cap having a central opening is sinterbonded to the second end of the body. The central opening aligns with the hollow stem to provide a fluid outlet.

Closed cavity piston for hydrostatic power units and method of manufacturing the same

A piston for use in the cylinder block of a hydraulic power unit. The piston has an elongated cylindrical body with one end configured to connect with a slipper element. The second end of the piston is open with an annular cavity in the piston body defining an elongated stem extending from the head end of the piston and slightly protruding through the open end. The stem is concentrically located within the longitudinal axis of the annular cavity and has an elongated fluid conduit that extends longitudinally through the stem and completely through the piston. The fluid conduit traverses the piston body along the center axis, providing a path for pressurized fluid. The piston is composed of a unitary cast construction.

Reduced dead volume hollow piston

A reduced oil volume piston assembly for a hydrostatic unit includes a piston assembly having a piston body and a stem formed separately from the piston body. A cavity is formed in one end of the piston body. The stem includes an enlarged head and an elongated neck extending upwardly from the head. The neck lossely inserts into the cavity of the piston body so as to at least partially fill the cavity. The head is unattached to the piston body and cannot enter the cavity, but its shape allows fluid flow into the cavity around the stem. These components can be incorporated into the cylinder block assembly as separate components or the stems can be integrally cast with the cylinder block or attached thereto as a stem ring assembly.

Reduced oil volume piston assembly for a hydrostatic unit

A hydrostatic transmission includes a hollow one-piece cast housing having an internal compartment and an outer shell with opposite sides and opposite ends; a central wall in the housing dividing the compartment into separate sub-compartments and being integrally cast with the housing; first and second hydrostatic power units mounted one each in the sub-compartments on opposite sides of the central wall; and high pressure fluid conduits extending through the central wall and hydraulically connecting the hydrostatic power units. The hydrostatic power units can include a pump and a motor, each having respective rotating groups which are easily insertable into the respective sub-compartments through access openings in the housing. Although the main shafts of the pump and motor are capable of rotating in different directions from each other and at different speeds, the shafts have axes of rotation which are coincidental to each other.

Hydrostatic transmission in one housing

A kit for converting a base transmission having a mid PTO shaft and a detachable original equipment rear cover into an optional configuration transmission having a rotatable mid PTO shaft and a rotatable rear PTO shaft that are both selectively drivable such that they can be commanded by the operator to rotate simultaneously or individually. The kit includes a conversion rear cover for replacing the original equipment rear cover, a rear PTO cover with an aperture therein mounted to the conversion rear cover, a rear PTO shaft rotatably supported in the aperture and extending into the conversion rear cover, and a three position selector assembly mounted on the conversion rear cover and the PTO rear cover. When installed on the base transmission, the selector assembly of the kit allows the operator to cause the rotation of the mid PTO shaft only, both the mid and rear PTO shafts simultaneously, or the rear PTO shaft only.

A vehicle transmission assembly includes a power means, a clutch connected to the power means and having an output power shaft, and a plurality of gears and substantial alignment. The gears include a first gear on the power shaft meshed with a second gear mounted on a first idler shaft. The second gear driving a third gear mounted on another idler shaft. The third gear drives a fourth gear mounted on a first PTO shaft. A second PTO shaft is operatively connected to the first shaft. A three position selector assembly on the first shaft selectively powers the PTO shafts simultaneously or individually. The method of connecting a single PTO shaft transmission assembly includes adding a second PTO shaft to said power means, and imposing a multi-position selector assembly to the gears to permit said PTO shafts to be operated together or individually.

Method of converting power takeoff assembly to include selectively

A vehicle transmission assembly includes a source of rotary power, a clutch connected to the power source and having an output power shaft, and a plurality of gears in substantial alignment. The gears include a first gear on the output power shaft meshed with a second gear mounted on a first sub-shaft. The second gear drives a third gear mounted on an idler shaft. The third gear drives a fourth gear mounted on a first PTO shaft. A second PTO shaft is operatively connected to the first sub-shaft. A three position selector assembly on the first shaft selectively powers the PTO shafts simultaneously or individually.

Power takeoff assembly and method of converting same to include

An electromagnetic clutch driven steerable drive axle system for a four-wheel drive vehicle, such as a front mount mower, including a rotary power source, a driven front axle, a mechanical rear axle converting power from the rotary power source into tractive power at a set of wheels attached thereto, a steering mechanism connected to the rear wheels, an electromagnetic clutch between the power source and mechanical rear axle, and a transducer which provides input representative of the turning and/or tractive power status of the mower to a microprocessor which may send current to the clutch. Having a plurality of frictional clutch disks, the clutch selectively transmits driving power to the secondary axle based on input current applied by the microprocessor. With the disks separated, the rotary power source and steerable axle are uncoupled. The rear wheels are allowed to freewheel, reducing skidding during turns in forward and reverse. Various embodiments are possible using known transducers for monitoring system parameters. The microprocessor compares these parameters to predetermine values and bases the input current to the clutch on them. The availability of four-wheel drive may be controlled by microprocessor logic and preloading of the clutch disks, either mechanically (with springs) or electromagnetically. Electrical preloading of the clutch enables vehicle torque to be intensified when additional tractive power is required.

An integrated drive arrangement for a vehicle propulsion system for transmitting vehicle drive torque and for independently driving external implements. The drive arrangement includes a power input shaft having a number of axially spaced drive gears and being driven by a prime mover. The pump shaft of a variable displacement pump is drivingly connected with one of the drive gears of the power input shaft. A fixed displacement motor is connected in closed circuit to the variable displacement pump. A number of drive pinions are spaced axially along an intermediate shaft which is spaced from the power input shaft and are connected to the intermediate shaft and the power input shaft by an electromagnetic clutch. First and second power take-off shafts are drivingly connected with the intermediate shaft such that the power input shaft imparts independent rotation to the power take-off shafts and the pump shaft.

A charge pressure priority valve for supplying a flow of sufficient pressure to energize an auxiliary implement while supplying a nearly constant pressure flow to a hydrostatic fluid circuit includes a valve body having an interior bore with a pump inlet passage for communicating a flow from a hydraulic pump thereto. A main flow outlet passage extends from the interior bore for supplying fluid to the hydraulic fluid circuit and has a main flow feedback passage interconnecting the main flow outlet passage and the interior bore. An auxiliary flow outlet passage extends from the interior bore for supplying a flow of sufficient pressure to energize an auxiliary implement. A valve spool is disposed within the interior bore and defines a central chamber intermediate a pair of spaced apart end chambers in the bore, with one of the pair of end chambers being isolated from the other of the pair of end chambers.
