Provided are a method and apparatus for removing image noise. The method includes: separating an input image signal into a signal component and a noise component; converting the noise component into a decorrelated noise component that is spatiotemporally decorrelated from neighboring pixels; and generating an image signal by adding the decorrelated noise component to the signal component.

Method and apparatus for removing image noise

A noise determining apparatus is provided. The noise determining apparatus includes a video determiner which determines type of video according to a pre-set criterion, a noise level determiner which determines a level of noise with reference to output from the video determiner, and a noise determiner which determines presence or absence of noise with reference to output from the noise level determiner. Accordingly, incorrect discrimination between a texture area of low level which is similar to noise and noise having a great level difference with respect to neighboring pixels is reduced.

Apparatus and method for determining noise

An image display apparatus and a color distortion compensation method are provided. The image display apparatus includes a detecting part which detects whether there is a color distortion in a block, using decoding information acquired from an incoming image and a pixel value of the incoming image, and a compensation part which compensates for the color distortion of the block when it is determined that the color distortion exists. Accordingly, it is possible to detect a color distortion in the block using the decoding information and pixel value acquired from the incoming image, and compensate for the color distortion of the block by performing pixel value adjustment and low pass filtering (LPF) when it is determined that the color distortion exists.

Image display apparatus and method for correction chroma wrinkle

An image quantization method and apparatus are provided in which a block with a high possibility of having color distortion is more elaborately quantized using a predetermined color distortion removing quantization matrix. The image quantization method includes determining a possibility of color distortion in the block using discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients and pixel values of the block of predetermined size of an image and performing initial quantization on the block using a predetermined color distortion quantization matrix to remove color distortion if the block has a high possibility of color distortion.
