A method for developing a response to a business need that has been initially reduced to a concept and approved for additional development after an initial estimate. The method can consist of capturing functional requirements to implement the defined concept through interaction with end users of the potentially impacted business processes. After the functional requirements have been captured, system requirements, including requirements for potential automation and software systems supporting the impacted business processes, can be captured. System requirements can be captured through interaction with systems analysts for the potentially impacted automation and software systems supporting the impacted business processes. A set of business requirements can be identified with respect to the approved concept and every captured functional requirement can be mapped to one or more identified business requirements. Every captured system requirement can be mapped to one or more captured functional requirements.

Method for discovering functional and system requirements in an integrated development process

An enterprise development process for outsourced software development is provided. The process includes generating, by a business unit of an entity or organization, a concept requiring one or more computer applications, such as a project. An information technology unit of the entity may then create an integrated architecture blueprint including a design of at least a portion of the one or more computer applications. One or more outsourced suppliers of the entity, design at least a portion of the application according to the integrated architecture blueprint. The information technology unit integrates the application into a computing production environment of the entity.

Enterprise software development process for outsourced developers

A method for scheduling software releases for a computer system. The method can consist of planning a series of releases for a given time period, each release having an initial allocation of capacity. Information regarding proposed software projects is reviewed and initial estimates of cost and duration for such projects are provided to customers for approval to move into detailed analysis. On receiving approval for each project, the planned series of releases and the initial estimate of cost and duration are reviewed and capacity is reserved in a release having available capacity. As detailed analyses and customer feedback change the scope of the projects approved for further analysis, the reserved capacity is adjusted and, where available capacity is not present, the reserved capacity is moved to a later release. As detailed analyses are completed and projects finally approved, the scheduled reservations are booked in the releases.
