A method of assembling a combustor assembly for use in a turbine engine is provided. A combustor liner that defines a combustion chamber therein is provided. The liner includes a forward end and an aft end, wherein the aft end includes at least one channel extending therethrough. The channel is aligned obliquely with respect to a centerline extending through the aft end. A plurality of fuel nozzles are coupled to the forward end such that the fuel nozzles extend through the forward end. An annular sleeve that includes at least one opening extending radially therethrough is coupled to the aft end, wherein the sleeve substantially circumscribes the aft end such that a cavity is defined therebetween and such that a fluid channeled through the at least one opening impinges against a surface of the aft end prior to the fluid being channeled into the combustion chamber.

Combustor assemblies for use in turbine engines and methods of assembling same

An annular seal for use between coupled combustor components includes a segmented annular solid edge portion and a plurality of alternating spring fingers and slots extending from the solid edge portion and arranged about a circumference of the solid edge portion, wherein one or more of the plurality of spring fingers or one or more of the plurality of straight and angled slots have non-uniform width dimensions.

A combustor liner is disclosed. The combustor liner includes an upstream portion, a downstream end portion extending from the upstream portion along a generally longitudinal axis, and a cover layer associated with an inner surface of the downstream end portion. The downstream end portion includes the inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface defining a plurality of microchannels. The downstream end portion further defines a plurality of passages extending between the inner surface and the outer surface. The plurality of microchannels are fluidly connected to the plurality of passages, and are configured to flow a cooling medium therethrough, cooling the combustor liner.

Combustor liner cooling system

Cooling is provided for a gas turbine combustion system that includes a first member, such as a liner, having exterior and interior surfaces that define a wall therebetween and a central area. A second member, such as a cap, is located adjacent that interior surface. A source of cooling gas is in fluid communication with the exterior surface of the first member. An open space, in which is located a hula seal, is located between the interior surface of the first member and the second member. At least one opening in the wall of the first member provides a passageway for the cooling gas from the exterior surface of the first member to the open space. The passageway has a directional axis along which the cooling gas flows and is discharged into the open space. The directional axis is substantially oriented in a direction other than a direction towards the central area of the first member.
