A method to generate a contact list may include receiving an identifier of a first communication device at a captioning system. The first communication device may be configured to provide first audio data to a second communication device. The second communication device may be configured to receive first text data of the first audio data from the captioning system. The method may further include receiving and storing contact data from each of multiple communication devices at the captioning system. The method may further include selecting the contact data from the multiple communication devices that include the identifier of the first communication device as selected contact data and generating a contact list based on the selected contact data. The method may also include sending the contact list to the first communication device to provide the contact list as contacts for presentation on an electronic display of the first communication device.

Captioning communication systems

A method of device to device communication is provided. The method may include obtaining a request for a communication session at a communication system from a first device. The method may further include obtaining profile data of a user associated with the first device and in response to obtaining the request, selecting a second device of multiple second devices to participate in the communication session using the profile data. In some embodiments, the method may also include establishing the communication session between the first device and the second device using the communication system and generating transcript data of the second device audio. The method may also include sending the transcript data and the second device audio to the first device for presentation of the transcription of the second device audio by the first device.

Device to device communication

A computer-implemented method to provide voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) credentials to a device may include receiving, at a system, first credentials from a device. The method may also include authenticating the device using the first credentials and after authenticating the device, obtaining, at the system, a device identifier for the device based on the first credentials. The method may further include establishing a connection between the system and a VoIP system configured to provide VoIP services and after establishing the connection, providing, from the system, the device identifier to the VoIP system. The method may also include receiving, at the system, VoIP credentials for the device. In some embodiments, the VoIP credentials may be configured to authenticate the device with the VoIP system such that the device is able to receive the VoIP services from the VoIP system. The method may further include providing the VoIP credentials to the device.

A method to transcribe a video communication session may include obtaining, at a communication system, a request from a first communication device for a video communication session and determining a currently available second communication device from among multiple second communication devices registered with the communication system. The method may also include establishing the video communication session between the first communication device and the currently available second communication device. After establishing the video communication session, the method may include receiving media data from the currently available second communication devices, the media data including audio data and video data and capturing, at the communication system, the audio data for generation of a transcription of the audio data. The method may also include routing the media data to the first communication device, generating the transcription of the audio data, and routing the transcription to the first communication device for presentation.

Transcribing video communication sessions

A method to establish communication between devices is provided. The method may include obtaining a request from a user at a first device to establish a communication session through a communication system over a wide area network with a second device. The communication session may provide for verbal communication between the user of the first device and a second user of the second device. The method may further include obtaining, at the first device over a local area network, current vital sign data of the user from a medical device configured to obtain vital sign data of the user. In response to the request from the user, the method may include sending a communication request to the communication system over the wide area network to establish the communication session and sending the current vital sign data to the communication system over the wide area network.

A method of device to device communication is provided. The method may include obtaining a request for a communication session at a communication system from a first device. The method may further include obtaining profile data of a user associated with the first device and in response to obtaining the request, selecting a second device of multiple second devices to participate in the communication session using the profile data. In some embodiments, the method may also include establishing the communication session between the first device and the second device using the communication system and generating transcript data of the second device audio. The method may also include sending the transcript data and the second device audio to the first device for presentation of the transcription of the second device audio by the first device in substantially real-time with presentation of the second device audio by the first device.

A computer-implemented method to establish communication between devices is provided. The method may include obtaining a request for a communication session at a communication system from a first device. The request may include an identifier associated with the first device. The method may further include obtaining data associated with a user associated with the first device based on the identifier in the request. The data may include: a medical condition of the user and a location of the user. In response to obtaining the request, the method may include selecting a second device of multiple second devices associated with the communication system to participate in the communication session. The second device may be selected based on the medical condition of the user and a location of the user. The method also include establishing, by the communication system, the communication session with the selected second device.

A method to transcribe a communication session may include establishing a communication session between a first device and a second device such that first device audio is sent from the first device to the second device and second device audio is sent from the second device to the first device. The method may also include generating first transcript data that may include a transcription of the first device audio. The method may also include generating, in substantially real-time, second transcript data that may include a transcription of the second device audio. The generation of the first transcript data may not occur in substantially real-time such that the generation of the first transcript data is delayed from the generation of the second transcript data. The method may also include routing the second device audio to the first device and routing the first device audio to the second device.

Transcription of communication sessions

Apparatuses and methods for notifying a group of communication devices about a missed call are disclosed. Each communication device is associated with a group identifier that is shared with all the communication devices in a group. Each communication device is also associated with an individual identifier that is unique to that communication device. An unanswered communication to the group identifier is received on all the communication devices in the group. A first communication device transmits to a remote server an acknowledgement notification that the unanswered communication related to the group identifier has been acknowledged by the user. A clear indicator indicating that the unanswered communication has been acknowledged is transmitted from the remote server to all the devices in the group except the first communication device. Each of the communication devices receiving the clear indicator can then clear its indicator that notifies the user of a missed call.
