According to one aspect, a method includes determining elements of abeam forming matrix W. The method further includes determining elements of a virtual beam sweeping matrix V, the elements of the virtual beam sweeping matrix V being determined to form beams between beams formed by the beam forming matrix W. The method also includes applying the matrices V and W to uplink signals Sreceived by antennas of the network node to produce received signals Sin a beam space.

A method, network node, wireless device and system are provided. In one or more embodiments, the network node is configured to communicate with a wireless device. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to: determine to transition the wireless device to one of a beamforming mode and non-beam forming mode, in response to the determination to transition the wireless device, modify at least one measurement report trigger associated with the wireless device, and transmit an indication of the modification of the at least one measurement report trigger to the wireless device.

Reference signal configuration for cell coordination

A method and system for determining whether to apply an inter-cell coordination procedure for a UE in the presence of inter-cell interference from cells, the cells including a serving cell and a plurality of interfering cells, are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes receiving measurements of uplink signal quality of the UE from the cells. The method also includes calculating a combined metric based on the received uplink signal quality measurements. The combined metric is compared to a serving cell threshold to determine whether to implement the inter-cell coordination procedure.

Inter-cell coordination in cellular deployment

A method and device for determining whether to send a measurement report to a serving cell and determining when an inter-cell coordination procedure is likely to achieve coordination gain are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes performing received signal quality measurements of the serving cell and a plurality of neighboring cells. The method also includes calculating a UE metric based on the received signal quality measurements of a plurality of interfering cells and based on a scaling parameter. The method further includes comparing the calculated UE metric to a threshold to determine whether to send the measurement report to the serving cell.
