The present invention relates to methods and (bio)sensor systems. Herein, magnetic fields are applied in order to transport magnetic particles laterally over a sensor surface with analyte specific probes. The methods of the invention allow the specific binding of magnetic particles to the sensor surface, while aspecific and unbound particles are removed.

The multi-epitope target may be detected through the use of a system comprising a sensor surface and the use of a first capture entity to block the at least one epitope from binding to a detection particle.

Reagents, methods and devices to prevent aggregation in particle based tests for the detection of multimeric target molecules

A cartridge includes an inlet portion that is connected to an assay chamber and a suction reservoir. The inlet portion is configured to allow a direct uptake of sample medium. During this uptake, air is trapped in the assay chamber, which prevents a premature entrance of the sample medium into the assay chamber. The transfer of the sample medium from the inlet portion to the assay chamber is thus controllably initiated at a later time, for example by opening a vent port connected to the assay chamber.

A cartridge and an associated apparatus for preparing a biological sample includes a reaction chamber configured to be closed by a substrate carrying the biological sample, where the reaction chamber is connected to a fluidic inlet system and a fluidic outlet system. The invention relates to a sensor apparatus () and a method for detecting clusters with magnetic particles in a sample. The sample is provided in at least one sample chamber () of a substantially planar cartridge () that is exposed to a modulated magnetic field (B, B) generated by a magnetic field generator (). The sample chamber () is illuminated with excitation light (L), and the resulting output light (L) is detected by a light detector (). The magnetic field (B, B) may particularly rotate, inducing a corresponding rotation of clusters which in turn induces a variation of the detection signal (S). According to a preferred embodiment, excitation light (L) is focused onto blocking spots () behind the sample chamber (), thus shielding the light detector () from direct illumination.
