A method for repairing a white defect of a LCD panel includes providing a substrate, the substrate defining pixel areas which themselves comprise a base, a first metal layer, a first insulating layer, a semi-conductor layer, an ohmic contact layer, a source electrode, a drain electrode, and a second insulating layer; forming a through hole by laser in the second insulating layer, the through hole extending through the second insulating layer and separating the drain electrode into two spaced parts; forming a third insulating layer to cover the first conductive layers, the second insulating layer and the though hole and forming a second conductive layer by laser on the third insulating layer to couple the first conductive layer to the second conductive layer.

Display panel, active matrix substrate, and method for repairing white defect of display panel

A display panel includes a color filter (CF) substrate including first support structures, a thin film transistor (TFT) substrate including second support structures, and a liquid crystal layer. Each of the first support structures resists against the TFT substrate, and each of the second support structures resists against the CF substrate to form a receiving space between the CF substrate and the TFT substrate, the receiving space contains the liquid crystal layer. The TFT substrate applies driving signals to the liquid crystal layer to modulate backlight received by the liquid crystal layer from a backlight source. The CF substrate allows light to be emitted as images by filtering the modulated backlight.

A method for fast and convenient manufacture of liquid crystal display panels of different and uncommon sizes without retooling provides a first liquid crystal display panel having a first display area of a large first size. The color filter substrate is cut to make the first liquid crystal display panel into a vacuum-broken state. A sealant is coated onto the array substrate, wherein the sealant seals the liquid crystal layer and extends to a side of the color filter substrate away from the array substrate to cover part of the first display area, thereby obtaining a second liquid crystal display panel with a second display area of a second size.

An electrostatic protection structure able to discharge static electricity of either polarity from a functional circuit including signal lines includes a discharge electrode and a plurality of electrostatic protection units electrically coupled to the discharge electrode. Each electrostatic protection unit includes a first TFT and a second TFT. The first TFT includes first gate, source, and drain, the second TFT includes second gate, source, and drain. The first gate and the first drain are electrically connected to one signal line. The first source is electrically connected to the second drain, the first drain is electrically connected to the second source, the second gate is electrically connected to the discharge electrode, and the second gate is electrically connected to the second drain.

The first function line has a first function but can also multiplex as a connecting line between the first-stage gate output signal line and one test pad. The first-stage gate output signal line is electrically insulated from the first function line during the first function of the first function line but is electrically connected to the first function line when multiplexed.

A thin film transistor substrate of reduced repaired line length and capacitance includes first repairing lines, data lines and second repairing lines insulated from each other. If one of the data lines is broken, the first repairing lines is electrically coupled to the input end of the broken data line, the second repairing line is electrically coupled to the output end of the broken data line, and the first repairing is electrically coupled to the second repairing line.

A gap is defined in the black matrix and in the non-display area. The gap extends to be a circle around the display area and divides the black matrix into two independent parts. The metal ring surrounds the display area and aligns with the gap.

A thin film transistor (TFT) substrate optimized for protection against the build up of static electricity defines a display area and a non-display area surrounding the display area. The TFT substrate includes a substrate and an electrostatic protection structure on the substrate and in the non-display area. The electrostatic protection structure includes a transparent conductive layer and a discharge metal layer on the transparent conductive layer. The discharge metal layer partially overlaps with the transparent conductive layer. The discharge metal layer is in direct contact with the transparent conductive layer. The transparent conductive layer has a width that is greater than a width of the discharge metal layer.

A thin film transistor substrate of reduced repaired line length and capacitance includes first repairing lines, data lines and second repairing lines insulated from each other. When one of the data lines is broken, the first repairing lines is electrically coupled to the input end of the broken data line, the second repairing line is electrically coupled to the output end of the broken data line, and the first repairing is electrically coupled to the second repairing line.

A gate driver with reduced voltage fluctuations driving a display device generates pulse signals shifted in a specified phase. The gate driver includes connected unit circuits. Each unit circuit includes an output terminal, input and output transistors, and a holding module. First and second control signals, alternating oppositely between high and low states, govern the two transistors. The input transistor is controlled by a first control signal and outputs a high level voltage to a first node based on a trigger signal. The output transistor outputs the shifted pulse signal synchronously with a clock control signal, based on the high level voltage of the first node. Initially, the trigger signal is low and the first and second control signals are high. The holding module outputs the low level voltage to the output terminal based on the first control signal and the second control signal.

A color filter substrate includes a transparent substrate, a patterned light-shielding layer, a plurality of color filter units, and a plurality of dummy color filter units. The transparent substrate has a display region and a peripheral region surrounding the display region. The patterned light-shielding layer is disposed on the transparent substrate, and the patterned light-shielding layer includes a first light-shielding pattern disposed on the display region and a second light-shielding pattern disposed on the peripheral region. The first light-shielding pattern defines a plurality of sub-pixel regions. The color filter units are disposed on the display region. The dummy color filter units are disposed on the peripheral region. Spacing between two adjacent dummy color filter units or spacing between the color filter unit and the adjacent dummy color filter unit is wider than spacing between two adjacent color filter units.

The gate electrodes and the common electrode of the FFS mode LCD panel are formed on the array substrate by the same photolithographic process, and the common electrode, the gate lines and the gate electrodes are disposed on the same layer.
