In an arrangement where a physical phenomenon affects a digital video camera and is measured or sensed by a sensor, a delay of a digital video stream from the digital video camera is estimated. The digital video stream is processed by a video processor for producing a signal that represents the changing over time of the effect of the physical phenomenon on the digital video camera. The signal is then compared with the sensor output signal, such as by using cross-correlation or cross-convolution, for estimating the time delay between the compared signals. The estimated time delay may be used for synchronizing when combining additional varied data to the digital video stream for low-error time alignment. The physical phenomenon may be based on mechanical position or motion, such as pitch, yaw, or roll. The time delay estimating may be performed once, upon user control, periodically, or continuously.

Estimating real-time delay of a video data stream

A voice controlled assistant has a housing to hold one or more microphones, one or more speakers, and various computing components. The housing has an elongated cylindrical body extending along a center axis between a base end and a top end. The microphone(s) are mounted in the top end and the speaker(s) are mounted proximal to the base end. A control knob is rotatably mounted to the top end of the housing to rotate about the center axis. A light indicator is arranged on the control knob to exhibit various appearance states to provide visual feedback with respect to the one or more functions being performed by the assistant. In one case, the light indicator is used to uniquely identify participants involved in a call.

Techniques for providing audio services to multiple devices are described. For instance, connections between a hands-free unit and multiple wireless devices are established. The connections are themselves used to establish active communication channels, such as active audio communication channels, between the hands-free unit and the wireless devices, such as during a phone call. Upon establishment of an active communication channel with one of the wireless devices, the connections to the other wireless devices are disconnected&#x2014;and/or additional connections refused&#x2014;for the duration of the active communication channel. Furthermore, a routing module in various embodiments permits multiple hands-free units to route active communication channels to each other depending on user location.

Providing hands-free service to multiple devices

Described is an unmanned aerial vehicle ('UAV') that includes a lifting propulsion mechanism that is circumferentially-driven and includes a propeller assembly and a propeller rim enclosure. The propeller assembly includes a plurality of propeller blades that extend radially and are coupled to an inner side of a substantially circular propeller rim that encompasses the propeller blades. Permanent magnets are coupled to an outer side of the propeller rim. The propeller rim and the magnets are positioned within a cavity of the propeller rim enclosure such that the propeller rim will rotate within the propeller rim enclosure. Also within the cavity of the propeller rim enclosure are electromagnets that are used to cause the propeller rim to rotate.

Circumferentially-driven propulsion mechanism

In some examples, a vision system includes multiple time of flight (ToF) cameras and a single illumination source. The illumination source and the multiple ToF cameras may be synchronized with each other, such as through a phase locked loop based on a generated control signal. A first one of the ToF cameras may be co-located with the illumination source, and a second one of the ToF cameras may be spaced away from the illumination source and the first ToF camera. For instance, the first ToF camera may have a wider field of view (FoV) for generating depth mapping of a scene, while the second ToF camera may have a narrower FoV for generating higher resolution depth mapping of a particular portion of the scene, such as for gesture recognition.

Single source multi camera vision system

A package launch system can be implemented to propel a package from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in a generally vertically descent trajectory, while the UAV is in motion. The package launch system can apply the force onto the package in a number of different ways. For example, flywheels, coils, and springs can generate the force that establishes the vertical descent path of the package. Further, the package delivery system can also monitor the package during its vertical descent. The package can be equipped with one or more control surfaces. Instructions can be transmitted from the UAV via an RF module that cause the one or more controls surfaces to alter the vertical descent path of the package to avoid obstructions or to regain a stable orientation.

Techniques for providing a number of items may be described. For example, a request for a delivery of an item within a time frame may be received. An additional item may be determined based at least in part on the item and the time frame. Both items may be scheduled for delivery based at least in part on the time frame. Information associated with the items and including an option to accept a delivery of the additional item may be provided. If the option may have been selected, a delivery of the additional item may be caused.

Providing recommended items

A package delivery system can be implemented to forcefully propel a package from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), while the UAV is in motion. The UAV can apply a force onto the package that alters its descent trajectory from a parabolic path to a vertical descent path. The package delivery system can apply the force onto the package in a number of different ways. For example, pneumatic actuators, electromagnets, spring coils, and parachutes can generate the force that establishes the vertical descent path of the package. Further, the package delivery system can also monitor the package during its vertical descent. The package can be equipped with one or more control surfaces. Instructions can be transmitted from the UAV via an RF module that cause the one or more controls surfaces to alter the vertical descent path of the package to avoid obstructions or to regain a stable orientation.

Systems and methods for maneuvering a package following in-flight release from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)

A computing system with multiple audio devices local to an environment to provide synchronized audio output to a user. A remote system receives a local audio signal representing sound captured from an environment from a local audio device and a remote audio signal representing sound captured from the environment from the remote audio device. The server determines a delay associated with the local audio signal and a delay associated with the remote audio signals and, based on the delays, synchronizes the audio being output by the local and remote devices.
