Apparatus and method for obtaining a plurality of spectral images of a source object in a snapshot using comprising two-dimensional compressed sensing data cube reconstruction (2D CS-SCR) applied to a dispersed-diffused snapshot image. In some embodiments, the snapshot image is obtained through a RIP diffuser. In some embodiments, a randomizer is used to further randomized the dispersed-diffused snapshot image. The 2D CS-SCR includes applying a 2D framelet transform separately to arrays representing different wavebands of spectral cube data derived from the snapshot image. The application of the 2D framelet transform separately to the arrays representing the different wavebands includes application of direct and inverse 2D framelet transforms to the arrays. In some embodiments, the direct and inverse framelet transforms are included in a split Bregman iteration.

Apparatus and method for snapshot spectral imaging

Snapshot spectral imagers comprise an imaging lens, a dispersed image sensor and a restricted isometry property (RIP) diffuser inserted in the optical path between the source image and the image sensor. The imagers are used to obtain a plurality of spectral images of the source object in different spectral bands in a single shot. In some embodiments, the RIP diffuser is one dimensional. An optional disperser may be added in the optical path, to provide further dispersion at the image sensor. In some embodiments, all imager components except the RIP diffuser may be part of a digital camera, with the RIP diffuser added externally. In some embodiments, the RIP diffuser may be included internally in a digital camera.

Snapshot spectral imaging based on digital cameras

Monochromatic cameras and methods for using such cameras to obtain a still or video color image of an object or scene. The image sensor of such cameras is clear, without a color filter array. A diffused-dispersed and optionally randomized image of the object or scene obtained at the image sensor is processed directly into a number R&#x3c;K of spectral images in R wavebands. K&#x2212;R spectral images are interpolated from the R spectral images. A color image is then reconstructed using the directly processed R spectral images and the K&#x2212;R interpolated spectral images. The interpolated images may exemplarily be obtained using a spline subdivision algorithm.

Color imaging using a monochromatic digital camera

Light-emitting intra-cavity interferometric (ICI) optical sensors based on channel waveguide structures which include an internal light emitting material and a functionalized region. In some embodiments, the waveguides are made of a sol-gel which incorporates the light emitting material. In some embodiments, the waveguide structure includes an ICI resonator backbone and the ICI sensor is a laser sensor. In some embodiments, the resonator backbone has an interferometric Y-branch shape. In some embodiments, the resonator backbone has a Mach Zehnder interferometer shape. In some embodiments, an ICI laser sensor has an interferometric arrayed waveguide grating shape. In some embodiments, an ICI sensor may be remotely optically pumped and remotely read.

Light-emitting intra-cavity interferometric sensors

Methods for forming three-layer thin-film battery (TFB) structures by sequential electrophoretic deposition (EPD) on a single conductive substrate. The TFBs may be two-dimensional or three-dimensional. The sequential EPD includes EPD of a first battery electrode followed by EPD of a porous separator on the first electrode and by EPD of a second battery electrode on the porous separator. In some embodiments of a Li or Li-ion TFB, the separator includes a Li ion conducting solid. In some embodiments of a Li or Li-ion TFB, the separator includes an inorganic porous solid rendered ionically conductive by impregnation with a liquid or polymer. In some embodiments, the TFBs are coated and sealed with an EPDd PEEK layer.

A cathode layer () overlies the micro-containers, with a separator layer () intermediate the anode layer and the cathode layer.

An electrical energy storage device () includes a substrate (), which is formed so as to define a multiplicity of micro-containers separated by electrically-insulating and ion-conducting walls (). A first plurality of anodes (A) is disposed in a first subset () of the micro-containers, and a second plurality of cathodes (C) is disposed in a second subset () of the micro-containers. The anodes and cathodes are arranged in an interlaced pattern.

Digital cameras for spectrally imaging an object or scene comprise an imaging component, a fixed one-dimensional disperser and an image sensor having sensor pixels, the disperser and image sensor arranged with matching optical parameters and in a predetermined spatial relationship. Each sensor pixel detects multiplexed spectral information from at least two adjacent object points and the spectral information detected by each sensor pixel is demultiplexed and processed into spectral-spatial data to provide spectral images.

Snapshot spectral imaging systems and methods

A nonlinear solid-state device useful for frequency conversion of electromagnetic radiation and in particular for harmonic generation, comprising a waveguiding electromagnetically distributed structure (WEDS) which includes monolithically a synthetic nonlinear material (SNM). Input radiation coupled into the WEDS is converted into a higher frequency output radiation through a constricted oscillatory motion of charge carriers and phase matched harmonic frequency generation of radiation which builds up coherently over an interaction length many time larger than the radiation wavelengths. In one embodiment, microwave radiation is converted into terahertz radiation. In other embodiments, SNM based WEDS devices are adapted for frequency mixing and parametric oscillation.

Thin-film micro-electrochemical energy storage cells (MEESC) such as microbatteries and double-layer capacitors (DLC) are provided. The MEESC comprises two thin layer electrodes, an intermediate thin layer of a solid electrolyte and optionally, a fourth thin current collector layer; said layers being deposited in sequence on a surface of a substrate. The MEESC is characterized in that the substrate is provided with a plurality of through cavities of arbitrary shape, with high aspect ratio. By using the substrate volume, an increase in the total electrode area per volume is accomplished.
