A disposable contraceptive cervical barrier includes a bowl-shaped thin flexible member and a substantially thicker circular rim unitary with the flexible member. The rim provides a spring tension effect for helping to maintain the barrier in position. A plurality of cavities are formed in the rim and are equidistantly spaced therearound. The cavities are open so as to be capable of receiving and holding a quantity of a spermicide. Alternatively, the flexible member itself can be provided with a plurality of grooves for holding the spermicide. Preferably, the barrier is made from a mixture of a hydrophilic foam polymer and a more conventional polyurethane polyether prepolymer-catalyst system. The mixture is molded in a closed mold having a volume of about ten percent of the volume which the material would occupy if allowed to foam freely. The finished product is similar to an elastomer except that internally it has a dense cellular structure and is bounded by an impermeable skin.

Disposable contraceptive cervical barrier

This invention relates to dry, dense, hydrophilic polyurethane foam cleaning pads containing abrasives, detergents and combinations thereof dispersed integrally therein as well as to a method of manufacturing these pads. The pads' surfaces are strengthened by the densification of the reacting prepolymer resin during manufacture, and preferably the pads have at least one surface textured for additional cleaning area. The surfaces can contain an optional additional layer of abrasives to obtain a greater durability and a more desirable scouring action.

A skateboard includes conventional carriages and axles supported on the underside thereof. Each axle has a truck pivotally supported on either end and each truck includes front and rear wheels. Each of the four trucks is pivotal independently of each of the others and is spring biased in an intermediate position. An endless belt passes around and is supported by the wheels on each of the four trucks.

This disclosure teaches synthetic polyurethane sponges manufactured with at least 5% of one or more additives dispersed therein. The additives may be soap, lotions, detergents, pesticides, lanolin, scouring particles, silicone oils, bath oils, or the like or combinations thereof. The sponges' skeletons are developed by reaction of a polyether or a polyester with a suitable isocyanate in the presence of a catalyst with the additives entrapped in voids of the sponges. An additive bearing material, i.e. a carrier material containing the additive is prepared. The carrier material is then mixed into a foam forming reaction mass. By this expedient the additive does not impair desired foam formation. The sponges are provided with high liquid absorbency and fine 'hand' by virtue of manufacturing methods and specific catalysts employed.

Disposable contraceptive intravaginal cervical barriers of one, two, three, four, or five layers in the form of standard pessaries with at least one layer impervious to the passage of sperm, with a medicament such as spermicide, germicide, or an abortion inducing agent either impregnated into a foam plastic layer or in the form of a layer of gel or powder, said medicament being activatable upon contact with an aqueous solution. Methods of producing disposable contraceptive barriers either as a wet foam plastic method wherein medicament is added to liquid foam and the resulting mixture is formed in a mold with any subsequent layers then added, or as a dry foam plastic method wherein layers including a layer of medicament in the form of a gel or a powder are superposed in sequence and formed in a die.

Vaginal syringe

This disclosure teaches a disposable syringe, preferably made of biodegradable paper, and adapted for vaginal douching. A tubular nozzle is provided with an axial passage and has a first end insertable into a woman's vagina as well as a second end sealed to a flexible bag that encloses a reservoir. At least one spray opening is formed in the first end of the nozzle and it communicates in flow series with the reservoir via the axial passage. A membrane in the bag is adapted to contain a douche powder therein. Means are provided, for example a pull string, to tear the membrane for mixing the douche powder with water in the reservoir.

A material containing from 0.1 to 10 parts of polyethylene or ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer per 1 part of natural cork is provided as a substitute for natural cork in stoppers for liquid food or wine bottles.

This disclosure teaches a hair curler which includes a cylindrical drum and a jaw engageable thereagainst for holding and rolling hair. The jaw is operated from a first end manually by means of a crank. An axial shaft is turnable from a second end to energize a torsion spring which subsequently turns the drum as it deenergizes. A detent and clutch control engaging and releasing of the torsion spring. After the spring is wound, this curler is affixable using one hand.
