A cold plate unit includes a coolant system and a fluid system in heat exchange relationship, and a metallic unit. The coolant system has inlet and outlet manifolds and a plurality of coolant lines each including a plurality of loops. The fluid system includes at least one fluid line preferably also including a plurality of loops, and preferably is interleaved with the coolant lines. The metallic unit incorporates the coolant and fluid systems. An apparatus for cooling at least one fluid includes a cold plate and a dispenser unit. The cold plate unit includes a coil basket having a fluid system and a coolant system. The fluid system includes a plurality of fluid lines each comprising a plurality of loops. The coolant system includes coolant inlet and outlet lines, at least one inlet manifold, at least one outlet manifold and a plurality of coolant line segments each comprising a plurality of loops. The cold plate also includes a metallic body selected from the group consisting of aluminum and an aluminum alloy solidified around the coil basket to form the cold plate.

Apparatus for cooling fluids

An apparatus for cooling at least one fluid includes separable cold plate and dispenser units. The cold plate unit includes a coolant system, a fluid system and a metallic unit. The coolant system defines a cold plate portion and a tower portion. The cold plate portion of the coolant system has a primary inlet manifold and a primary outlet manifold, and the tower portion has a secondary inlet manifold and a secondary outlet manifold. The coolant system further includes a first plurality of coolant line segments connecting the primary and secondary inlet manifolds and a second plurality of coolant line segments connecting the secondary and primary outlet manifolds. The fluid system also defines a cold plate portion and a tower portion, the portions being in heat exchange relationship with the coolant system. The metallic unit includes unitary cold plate and tower portions which respectively incorporate the cold plate and tower portions of the coolant system and fluid system. The dispenser unit also includes a coolant system, a fluid system and a metallic unit. The coolant system of the dispenser unit includes a dispenser inlet manifold and a dispenser outlet manifold. The coolant system of the dispenser unit further includes a plurality of coiled coolant lines. The fluid system is in heat exchange relationship with the coolant system, being disposed at least partially within the coiled coolant lines. The metallic unit of the dispenser unit incorporates the dispenser coolant system and fluid system.

An apparatus for low volume dispensing of soft drinks preferably uses no mechanical refrigeration equipment, depending instead on heat transfer from a bin of ice to cool water and soft-drink syrup for beverages. A heat-exchange plate desirably includes transfer lines for incoming water to and from a carbonator. A portion of the heat exchange plate, or a second heat exchange plate, includes transfer lines for syrup and for carbonated water. The carbonated water is used to cool the syrup through the second heat exchange plate, and is also mixed with the syrup to dispense a soft drink. Heat from the incoming water and syrup is removed by melting ice in the ice bin, which may be replenished as needed.

Low volume beverage dispenser

An apparatus for cooling at least one fluid includes separable cold plate and dispenser units. The cold plate unit includes a coolant system, a fluid system and a metallic unit. The coolant system defines a cold plate portion and a tower portion. The cold plate portion of the coolant system has a primary inlet manifold and a primary outlet manifold, and the tower portion has a secondary inlet manifold and a secondary outlet manifold. The coolant system further includes a first plurality of coolant line segments connecting the primary and secondary inlet manifolds and a second plurality of coolant line segments connecting the secondary and primary outlet manifolds. The fluid system also defines a cold plate portion and a tower portion, the portions being in heat exchange relationship with the coolant system. The metallic unit includes unitary cold plate and tower portion which respectively incorporate the cold plate and tower portions of the coolant system and fluid system. The dispenser unit also includes a coolant system, a fluid system and a metallic unit. The coolant system of the dispenser unit includes a dispenser inlet manifold and a dispenser outlet manifold. The coolant system of the dispenser unit further includes a plurality of coiled coolant lines. The fluid system is in heat exchange relationship with the coolant system, being disposed at least partially within the coiled coolant lines. The metallic unit of the dispenser unit incorporates the dispenser coolant system and fluid system.

An apparatus for cooling at least one fluid includes at least one fluid system comprising at least one fluid line, and a metallic unit. The fluid system is arranged in the shape of a concavely depressed coil with a top and a bottom. At the bottom of the coil an opening is defined. The metallic unit incorporates the at least one fluid system. The metallic unit has an upper surface in which is defined a concave depression, and the concave depression has defined therein a drain which extends through the metallic unit. The concave depression of the metallic unit is aligned with the concavely depressed coil, and the drain defined in the metallic unit passes through the opening at the bottom of the at least one fluid system.

An apparatus for cooling at least one fluid includes a coolant system defining a cold plate portion and a tower portion, a fluid system in heat exchange relationship with the coolant system and likewise defining a cold plate portion and a tower portion, means for dispensing at least one fluid from the tower portion, and a metallic unit comprising unitary cold plate and tower portions which respectively incorporate the cold plate and tower portions of the coolant system and of the fluid system.

A beer-dispensing apparatus including a source of cooled pressurized gas-ladened beer, an elongate beer delivery line extending from the source of beer to a remote beer-dispensing station, a normally closed beer-dispensing valve at the beer-dispensing station, a liquid glycol chilling and recirculating unit, a heat exchanger beer delivery structure including an elongate beer-conducting balance line smaller in inside diameter than the beer delivery line and connected with and extending between the beer delivery line and the valve, an elongate glycol-conducting tube extending longitudinally of and in heat transfer relationship with the balance tube and connected with the glycol chilling and recirculating unit to cause chilled glycol to continuously circulate through it; a thermally insulated heat-storing aluminum body about the balance and glycol tubes; glycol flowing through the glycol tube progressively lowers the temperature of beer flowing downstream through the balance tube to the valve.

Beer-dispensing system and apparatus

An improved cold plate structure including a plurality of like horizontally disposed, elongate, sinuously formed liquid-conducting heat transfer tubing units of stainless steel tubing having laterally spaced elongate runner portions and recurvate end portions extending between related ends of adjacent runner portions; said units are arranged in vertical stacked relationship with each other; a plurality of tie bars tightly binding the units in stacked relationship with each other with their adjacent runner and end portions in tight substantially uniform heat-conducting contact with each other and having elongate horizontal upper and lower spacer portions extending transverse the stacked units in pressure bearing engagement therewith; a body of aluminum cast about the units and tie bars and defining a flat horizontal top icing surface that is tangential with upper edges of the upper spacer portions of the tie bars and a lower surface that is tangential with lower edges of the lower spacer portions of the tie bar; and, structure connected with each end of each tubing unit arranged within and projecting from the aluminum body to connect with related fluid handling apparatus.
