The disclosed embodiment relates to an injection device that is a single patient use, disposable device containing a needle and a cartridge containing a drug, pharmaceutical product or other injectable agent. The device is initially provided in a pre-armed state in a first engagement configuration wherein the needle is separated from the septum of a cartridge. To arm the injection device, the professional urges the device from the first engagement or pre-armed configuration to a second engagement or armed configuration wherein the needle pierces the septum and provides a sterile fluid path to the drug, pharmaceutical product or other injectable agent contained within the cartridge. The disclosed embodiment is particularly adaptable to dental anesthetic applications, as well as other medical and veterinary applications.

The disclosed embodiment relates to a system and method for treating a non-sterile surface of at least a component of a medical device, such as, but not limited to, a cartridge for an injection device. The system for treating a non-sterile surface of a medical device includes a source of electromagnetic radiation and, in some embodiments, a source of laminar airflow. The source of electromagnetic radiation provides exposure and the source of laminar airflow provides laminar airflow to the surface for treatment of the medical device. The method for treating a non-sterile surface includes exposing the non-sterile surface of a cartridge to a pulsed electromagnetic wave. In some embodiments, simultaneous to the pulsed electromagnetic radiation exposure, a laminar airflow can be directed perpendicular to the surface of the cartridge.

System and method for treatment of a surface of an injection device

A syringe for dispensing anesthetic from a cartridge having an interior wall defining a hollow interior sized and shaped for receiving a dose of anesthetic, and a piston. The syringe includes a tubular plunger slidably received in the hollow interior of the tubular cartridge. The plunger has a hollow interior extending between a distal end shaped for engaging the piston and an open proximal end. The syringe includes a plunger rod slidably received in the hollow interior of the tubular plunger. The rod has a sharp distal end adapted to penetrate the piston, a proximal end, and a length extending between the distal end and the proximal end sized so a delivery portion of the rod extends through the piston into the cartridge when the rod is driven through the piston. The delivery portion includes a recess for receiving a buffering agent to reduce acidity of the dose of anesthetic.

The present disclosure relates to a self-venting cannula assembly. The self-venting cannula assembly including an outer tube that defines a throughbore, an inner tube, a vent aperture, and a filter element. The inner tube is positioned within the outer tube, which defines a vent channel therebetween. The vent aperture is formed in the outer tube to provide fluid communication between the vent channel and an external environment. The filter element is positioned over the vent aperture and prevents particles having a dimension greater than about 0.2 microns from passing therethrough.

A package assembly includes a panel, an array of openings defined in the panel, and a plurality of syringe wells. The panel includes an upper surface. Each of the syringe wells is individually associated with a different one of the openings. The panel and the plurality of syringe wells are integrally formed as a unitary structure. Each of the syringe wells is configured to removeably receive a syringe assembly.

This disclosure relates to fluid delivery devices which include a body defining a fluid channel with filtration. In one embodiment, the body is molded to include a barrier which extends across the fluid channel and a series of apertures or openings are formed through the barrier. A laser device may be used to form the apertures through the barrier.

A needle and receiver assembly for use with a syringe cartridge filled with medicine includes a cartridge receiver having a hollow interior, an open end sized for receiving at least part of the syringe cartridge, and a closed end opposite the open end. The assembly includes a needle mounted on the receiver having a fluid passage extending between a sharp delivery tip at a distal end of the needle and a sharp access tip at a proximal end of the needle opposite the delivery tip positioned inside the hollow interior of the receiver. The assembly includes a cutter movably mounted in the hollow interior of the receiver for movement relative to the receiver and the needle to cut the diaphragm of the cartridge when received in the hollow interior of the receiver.

A package assembly includes a plurality of syringe assemblies. Each syringe assembly has a syringe flange defining an opening. The syringe flange of each of the syringe assemblies is coupled to a plurality of adjacent syringe flanges to define a panel. Each of the syringe flanges includes a plurality of lateral edges. The plurality of lateral edges of each syringe flange is coupled to the lateral edge of adjacent syringe flanges in a breakaway configuration to facilitate separation of each of the plurality of syringe assemblies from the panel.

Each of the syringe wells is configured to removeably receive a syringe assembly. The syringe-well holding fixture includes an upper surface and a plurality of mounting flanges coupled to the upper surface. Each of the plurality of mounting flanges is individually associated with a different opening in the syringe-well holding fixture and configured to receive a syringe well.
