A computer-implemented method for identifying directed content without access to personally-identifiable information of a user includes receiving a group identifier that identifies a group to which the user belongs and an identifier for a device of the user; selecting content that is determined to be responsive to preferences of the group, without using information that identifies the user; and providing the selected content for display on the device of the user.

Directed content to anonymized users

A system and method are provided for collecting wireless network quality parameters. The wireless network quality parameters are collected from wireless networks by a client device in communication with the wireless network. The client device reports the wireless network quality parameters to a server. The server collects wireless network quality parameters from a plurality of client devices and analyzes the wireless network quality parameters from the plurality of client devices to determine a network quality for the particular wireless networks. The network quality is stored in a network quality database maintained by the server. The server provides access to the network quality for devices with permission to access the wireless network quality database.

Method for collecting and aggregating network quality data

A toolbar, such as an add-on toolbar for a web browser, may be automatically created for a user based on the preferences or habits of the user. A device may, for example, receive metadata relating to habits or preferences of the user. The device may match the metadata to a set of toolbar objects to obtain one or more recommended toolbar objects for the user. The device may generate custom toolbar code that includes the one or more recommended toolbar objects and transmit the custom toolbar code to the user for installation of the custom toolbar code to implement a custom toolbar in the application program.
