The present invention is directed to a low VOC, non-aerosol, polyacrylic acid containing hair cosmetic compositions which contain stabilized starches, particularly those derivatized by alkylene oxides, about 01.-0.0% polyacrylic acid, up to about 15% solvent, and water. The derivatized starch may be hydrolyzed, particularly enzymatically hydrolyzed by at least one endo-enzyme. In addition, the starch may be cationically modified with a low degree of substitution. Use of such starches is novel and advantageous in that they are compatible with polyacrylic acid, providing a clear, solution with a stable viscosity. Further, the resultant composition provides a clear film which is not tacky, good stiffness, and improved humidity resistance.

Use of stabilized starches in low VOC, polyacrylic acid-containing hair cosmetic compositions

The present invention is directed to low VOC, non-aerosol hair cosmetic compositions, which contain nonionically modified starches. The starch may be additionally hydrolyzed, particularly enzymatically hydrolyzed. Further, the starch may be modified using ionic substituents. Use of such starches is novel and advantageous in that they provide a clear solution with a low viscosity, and good pump spray characteristics. Further, the resultant composition provides a clear film which is not tacky, good stiffness, and improved humidity resistance.

Nonionically derivatized starches and their use in non-aerosol, low VOC hair cosmetic compositions

The present invention is directed to low volatile organic compound aerosol hair cosmetic compositions which contain nonionically derivatized starches optionally hydrolyzed and/or ionically modified, about 5-55% propellant, up to 50% solvent, and water. Such compositions provide a clear solution with a low viscosity, good spray caracteristics, a clear, non-tacky film, good stiffness, and improved humidity resistance.

Aerosol hair cosmetic compositions containing non-ionically derivatized starches

A polyurethane, soluble or dispersible in water, prepared from organic diisocyanate diols or other isocyanate reactive materials and a 2,2-hydroxymethyl-substituted carboxylic acid diol neutralized with a cosmetically acceptable organic or inorganic base and formulated into a hair fixative composition containing low amounts of volatile organic solvent. The present invention is also directed to a process for the preparation of polyurethanes comprising dispersing the polyurethane after at least 70% of the theoretical isocyanate reaction has taken place, but before completion of the reaction.
