Embodiments of the invention include stable compositions comprising: an active ingredient, a dispersant, a latex, and water, wherein the active ingredient and the latex in the composition remain substantially separate. Further embodiments include methods of applying the compositions to an area to control undesirable plant growth, fungal pathogens or insects.

Half salts of certain synthetic auxin herbicides are provided. These half salts are useful for controlling unwanted plant growth. The half salts have low solubility in water, low volatility relative to commercial compositions of the corresponding synthetic auxin herbicides, and offer comparable herbicidal performance when compared to existing salts of the synthetic auxin herbicides.

Stable emulsifiable concentrates containing a first herbicidal carboxylic acid in the salt form and a second herbicidal carboxylic acid in the ester form are prepared by using a tertiary amine to prepare the salt of the first herbicidal carboxylic acid and by using an alcohol which is the same as the ester portion of the second carboxylic acid herbicide as the solvent.
