A process of imparting transparency or translucency to a liquid or gel type automatic dishwashing detergent product is disclosed. The process includes the steps of providing a liquid or gel type automatic dishwashing detergent composition expressly free from (i) potassium tripolyphosphate and (ii) mixture of sodium tripolyphosphate and potassium tripolyphosphate, adding one or more of potassium sources to the liquid or gel type automatic dishwashing detergent composition, the potassium sources being expressly free of potassium tripolyphosphate, and maintaining a K:Na weight ratio greater than at least about 0.5:1.

A particle for detersive enzymes is disclosed by way of the present invention. The particle comprises a composite particle suitable for incorporation into a detergent composition comprising an enzyme containing core material and a water soluble carboxylate barrier layer coated on the enzyme containing core material. The preferred enzymes are protease enzymes. Automatic dishwashing compositions employing the particle are also disclosed.

There is provided a process for ma ing composite particulates comprising from about 1% to about 50% by weight of discrete particles of water-insoluble diacyl peroxide having a mean particle size of less than about 300 microns and from about 30% to about 99% by weight of a carrier material which melts in the range of from about 38.degree. C. to about 77.degree. C. This preparation process involves the steps of (i) mixing the particles of water-insoluble diacyl peroxide into the carrier material while the carrier material is in a molten state and then (ii) rapidly cooling and solidifying the resultant mixture and thereafter (iii) wor ing the solidified mixture if or as necessary to form the composite particulates therefrom. Detergent compositions containing the composite particulates are also provided.
