The present invention relates to a process for preparing a blend of comprising an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles, a PMHS, an opacifying pigment, and an extender. The blend of the present invention is useful in exterior paint applications, especially where retention of color in the painted substrate is important.

Method for preparing coating composition with improved color retention

Water-based pressure sensitive adhesive compositions are disclosed comprising (a) an acrylic emulsion having a glass transition temperature of less than or equal to 20° C., (b) optionally, a dispersant or a silane-containing compound, and (c) an ethylene or propylene copolymer emulsion. In some embodiments, (a) comprises from 75 to 99 wt % of the compositions, (b), when present, comprises from 0.1 to 5 wt % of the compositions, and (c) comprises from 0.1 to 25 wt % of the composition, each based on the dry weight of the compositions. Methods for preparing water-based pressure sensitive adhesive compositions are also disclosed comprising emulsion polymerizing at least one unsaturated monomer, thereby forming an emulsion polymer having a glass transition temperature of less than or equal to −10° C. and blending the emulsion polymer together with a dispersant or silane-containing compound and an ethylene or propylene copolymer emulsion. Water-based pressure sensitive adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesive films are also disclosed.

Water-based pressure sensitive adhesive compositions and methods of making same

Activatable adhesive compositions are disclosed. The activatable adhesive compositions comprise a two-stage polymer particle, comprising a first stage comprising a hydrophilic acrylic polymer having an acid content of less than 200 mg KOH/g, a second stage polymerized within the first stage and comprising a hydrophobic acrylic polymer, and a tackifier soluble in the first stage and the second stage. Further, linerless labels and tapes comprising activatable adhesive compositions are disclosed. Still further, methods for adhering a first substrate to a second substrate using an activatable adhesive composition are also disclosed.

Disclosed is a method comprising: a) dispersing a first monomer mixture comprising least one least monomer, the first monomer mixture having a total glass transition temperature (Tg) in the range of from &#x2212;10&#xb0; C. to &#x2212;65&#xb0; C. with a surfactant and an initiator in an aqueous medium; b) when the first monomer mixture is completely dispersed, adding a second monomer mixture comprising at least one monomer, the second monomer mixture having a Tg at least 20&#xb0; C. greater than the Tg of the first monomer mixture, to the aqueous medium; c) when the second monomer mixture is completely dispersed, adding a third monomer mixture comprising at least one monomer, the third monomer mixture having a Tg in the range of from &#x2212;25&#xb0; C. to 50&#xb0; C.; and d) forming a polymer with the first, second, and third monomer mixtures. Also disclosed is a pressure sensitive adhesive comprising the polymer formed by this method.

A thermally reversible adhesive comprising a) a copolymer of i) a conjugated diene acrylate or methacrylate and ii) at least one acrylic monomer; and b) a bismaleimide crosslinking agent, a process for its preparation, and various end uses, are disclosed.

Thermally reversible polymer cross-linking for pressure sensitive adhesives

A composition having three components. The first component is from 20 to 80 wt % of a styrene-diene block copolymer having from 10-30 wt % polymerized units of styrene, wherein the block copolymer is present as a dispersion of copolymer in water, and the dispersion contains less than 5 wt % organic solvent based on total dispersion weight. The second component is from 0.5 to 20 wt % of a plasticizer. The third component is from 20 to 80 wt % of a tackifier.

A method for producing a photovoltaic module by contacting at least one layer of liquid encapsulant and a plurality of solar cells. The liquid encapsulant has two components. The first component is an acrylic polyol having a terminal hydroxy group, an average number of hydroxy-functional monomer units per polymer chain from 2 to 25 and Mn from 1,000 to 10,000. The second component is an aliphatic polyisocyanate with an average functionality of at least two. The molar ratio of non-terminal hydroxy groups in the polyol to isocyanate groups in the aliphatic polyisocyanate is from 0.5:1 to 1:0.5.

Method for producing a photovoltaic module

A method for producing a photovoltaic module by forming solar cells on a glass plate and contacting at least one layer of liquid encapsulant with the solar cells. The liquid encapsulant has two components. The first component is an acrylic polyol having an average number of hydroxy-functional monomer units per polymer chain from 2 to 25 and Mn from 1,000 to 10,000. The second component is a polyisocyanate with an average functionality of at least two. The molar ratio of non-terminal hydroxy groups in the polyol to isocyanate groups in the polyisocyanate is from 0.5:1 to 1:0.5.
