A system for low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication. In one example, the system includes a control computer and a workgroup including a plurality of communication devices. Each communication device includes an electronic processor configured to establish a wireless network connection with the control computer, determine connectivity data associated with a signal between the communication device and a first LEO satellite, and transmit the connectivity data to the control computer via the wireless network connection. The control computer is configured to receive the connectivity data from each communication device, and select a first one of the plurality of communication devices as a primary communication device based on each of the connectivity data. The primary communication device is configured to receive media from a different one of the plurality of communication devices via the wireless network connection and transmit the media to the first LEO satellite.

The electronic processor is configured to identify and isolate a plurality of conversations of interest from among the audio conversations based on predetermined characteristics indicative of a potential threat. The electronic processor is configured to determine that at least two of the plurality of conversations of interest are potentially linked to a single potential threat, compile them for playback or transcription, and generate an alert indicating the availability of the linked conversations of interest.

Automated detection and tracking of conversations of interest in crowded areas

The present specification provides systems, devices and methods for controlling an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) at a public safety incident. An example method contemplates placing a UAV in a shadow mode that follows a firefighter's movements throughout the PSI while monitoring voice activity while the UAV performs tasks such as sending images from a camera to a central server. Potential voice commands are extracted from the voice activity and associated with tasks being performed by the UAV. A machine learning dataset is built from those associations such that at future incidents the UAV can operate in a freelance mode based on detected voice commands or other contextual factors.

System, device and method for controlling an uncrewed aerial vehicle at public safety incidents

Methods and systems for processing audio information captured by an interactive virtual assistant (IVA). An example method includes: converting sound received by a microphone into electrical signals; generating voiceprints corresponding to voices represented in the electrical signals; distinguishing signals representing background speech and signals representing voice commands directed at the IVA; and based on various signals representing background speech and voice commands, labeling each of the voiceprints with a tag selected from the group consisting of an IVA interactor occupant tag, an IVA non-interactor occupant tag, and a non-occupant tag. The method also includes transmitting, in response to a trigger event, a message with at least one of an estimated number of occupants in a geofenced area corresponding to the IVA and an alert reporting an indication of unlawful activity thereat.

Once an incident call is established, the system and method perform audio analytics on the call to determine a trusted side of the call and a target side of the call. The method and system determine, based on the audio analytics of the call, that the trusted side of the call should be modified to create a suitable call environment perception for the target side of the call. Modifications are then made at the trusted side of the call by injecting background audio to create the suitable call environment to be heard at the target side of the call.

A method and apparatus for determining a unique wake word for devices within an incident. One system includes an electronic computing device comprising a transceiver and an electronic processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The electronic processor is configured to receive a notification indicative of an occurrence of an incident and one or more communication devices present at the incident, determine contextual information associated with the incident and the one or more communication devices, and identify one or more wake words based on the contextual information. The electronic processor is further configured to determine a phonetic distance for each pair of wake words included in the one or more wake words, and select a unique wake word from the one or more wake words for each communication device of the one or more communication devices based on the determined phonetic distance.

A communication system () provides a portable radio () that retrieves public safety records in response to a verbal query entered thereto. The communication system () includes a bot gateway () for accessing and retrieving the public safety records from a plurality of remote public safety databases in response to the verbal query entered into the portable radio. The bot gateway () determines a criticality level for the retrieved public safety records. The bot gateway () temporarily stores the retrieved public safety records and sends a criticality code to the portable radio. The portable radio generates user alerts indicating the criticality level of the retrieved public safety records based on the code. The portable radio plays out the bot-retrieved search results in response to a further user input to the portable radio.

A portable radio () provides a voice control feature which advantageously enables radio users to perform talk group changes by using voice as an input medium to the radio device. Activation of a voice control button () and verbal entry of a valid talk group control command enables a change in talk group. The portable radio () comprises a controller () having a code plug () pre-programmed with a plurality of talk group alias names, and an automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine () providing voice control entry detection to the portable radio. A controller determines when a received textual term, received at the controller via one or more of an input device and a communications unit, is phonetically similar to one or more existing textual terms used for activating functionality at a communication device using a voice recognition algorithm. When the received textual term, are phonetically similar to one or more existing textual terms, the controller: generates one or more suggested textual terms, related to the received textual term, that minimizes phonetic similarities with the one or more existing textual terms; and causes an output device to provide an indication of the one or more suggested textual terms to use in place of the received textual term.
