Medical device or instrument for diagnosing pressure ulcers using optical reflectance spectroscopy. The device may comprise a tip and a controller. The tip is pressed against the skin of the patient and collects the optical reflectance data. The controller processes the data to determine whether there exists a pressure ulcer and, if there is one, its depth. The tip may also include a pressure sensor for sensing the pressure at which the tip is applied to the patient's skin.

Medical device for diagnosing pressure ulcers

An apparatus and method for producing a screen is provided. The method includes propelling a quantity of paint comprising metallic flakes, such as aluminum flakes, toward the screen. The method also includes applying at least one magnetic field in a vicinity of the screen, wherein applying the at least one magnetic field causes at least one metallic flake in the quantity of paint to be oriented relative to the screen in a substantially preferred orientation, thereby producing a screen exhibiting beneficial projection qualities, such as brightness. The magnetic field(s) applied may be unsymmetric in the time domain of, for example, an AC component of the magnetic field.

A viewing system and method for producing at least one image for being perceived as three-dimensional, including at least one of: a provision for compensating the center-of-interest of the at least one image in such a manner as to reduce convergence-accommodation conflict; a provision for configuring the viewing system such that crosstalk produced by a stereo display is perceived as foreground and background blur instead of ghosting; and a provision for viewing the at least one image via automicrostereopsis.

3-D imaging arrangements

A movable robot for performing tasks upon and traversing a work surface. The robot having a first support means having a longitudinal axis. The first support means have first gripping means extending therefrom for detachable adhering the first support means to the work surface. The robot further having at least one second support means movably coupled to the first support means. Respective second gripping means extend from each second support means for detachable adhering the second support means to the work surface. The first and second gripping means are capable of being moved relative to one another both in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis and along a line that intersects the longitudinal axis. At least one tool is attached to one or more of the first and second support means.
