Computing a relative-head-orientation relative to a moving-reference. First and second data are received. The first data are indicative of a head-orientation of a head of a user. The second data are indicative of at least one of: a location, a motion, an orientation, a velocity and an acceleration of the user. A head-orientation is computed according to the first data. A moving-reference is updated by an adjustment toward the head-orientation, to produce an updated-moving-reference. The amount of adjustment is indicated by processing the second data. A relative-head-orientation is computed relative to the updated-moving-reference. Binaural audio is rendered in accordance with the relative-head-orientation.

Head tracking with adaptive reference

A method and system of providing an adaptive reference orientation usable for determining a relative head orientation of a user, the method being implemented by a processing unit and comprising: repeatedly providing: receiving first data sensed by one or more sensors, said first data being indicative of a user's head orientation; obtaining a new adaptive reference orientation by moving a current adaptive reference orientation at least partly towards said indicated head orientation, by an amount which is varied at least partly in accordance with second data, said second data having been sensed by one or more sensors and being indicative of changes of a current frame of reference of the user; computing head orientation relative to said adaptive reference orientation; and using said new adaptive reference orientation as a current adaptive reference orientation for a next repeat of operations.

A method and system for providing head orientation relative to an adaptive reference orientation, implemented by a processing unit and comprising receiving head data from a head sensor, said head data describing a first head orientation of a user; receiving second data from a second sensor; adapting said adaptive reference orientation by moving it at least partly towards said first head orientation by an amount which is varied at least partly in accordance with said second data, thereby generating a new adaptive reference orientation; and generating, in accordance with said first head orientation and said new adaptive reference orientation, a second head orientation of the user as said first head orientation relative to said new adaptive reference orientation.

A circuit, method, and system for producing artificial ambience effect for an input audio signal, mono, stereo, or surround. The ambience effect enhances artificial reverberation, replaces artificial reverberation, or synthesizes extra audio channels, such as surround channels. The circuit may include a transient reduction module and a reverberation filter. The transient reduction module may be adapted to reduce transients in an input audio signal of one or more channels. The reverberation filter maybe adapted to receive a transient-reduced signal of one or more channels corresponding to the transient-reduced signal.

Efficient filter for artificial ambience

A method for constructing a direct-current to direct current (DC-DC) converter from an input voltage to an output voltage. The DC-DC converter has multiple capacitors and multiple switches connectible the capacitors. A target voltage ratio is obtained based on the input voltage and the output voltage. The target voltage is expressed as a radix number. The radix number is spawned into a code of the target voltage ratio. The code is translated into a switched-capacitor converter (SCC) configuration including the switches and the capacitors. The code may be an extended binary representation code or a Generic Fractional Numbers code. The switched-capacitor converter (SCC) configuration is preferably modified to obtain charge balance.

Self-adjusting switched-capacitor converter with multiple target voltages and target voltage ratios

A method for processing audio signal that includes receiving a plurality of digital audio signals and calculating signal levels of them. The next step is calculating smooth attenuation signal for each one of the input audio signals. The smooth attenuation signals are calculated according to the signal levels and smoothing criteria, such that the mixing of signals that include the input audio signals multiplied by their respective smooth attenuation signals is peak limited by a given threshold level.

Peak-limiting mixer for multiple audio tracks

A high-efficiency tracking power supply featuring a network of switched capacitors and an active noise shaping unit for reducing non-linearity and controlling the noise spectrum. Several variations of a non-inductive switched-capacitor tracking power-supply are presented, which are well-suited to integrated-circuit implementation and battery operation, and which provide an efficient power supply for the output stage over a wide range of voltages that can exceed the voltage limits of the main power source. The output of the tracking power-supply can be fed into an analog linear voltage regulator, or can be used as a Multi-Level Quantizer for generating the output directly. Some simple switching strategies are disclosed which offer power efficiencies in excess of 90%.

High-efficiency power supply

A voice signal processing system with multiple parallel control paths, each of which address different problems, such as the high peak-to-RMS signal ratios characteristic of speech, wide variations in RMS speech levels, and high background noise levels. Different families of input-output control curves are used simultaneously to achieve efficient peak limiting and dynamic range compression as well as low-level dynamic expansion to prevent excessive amplification of background noise. In addition, a delay in the audio path relative to the control path makes it possible to employ an effective look-ahead in the control path, with FIR filtering smoothing-matched to the look-ahead. Digital domain peak interpolators are used for estimating the peaks of the input signal in the continuous time domain.

Dynamic range compressor-limiter and low-level expander with look-ahead for maximizing and stabilizing voice level in telecommunication applications

A high-efficiency audio power amplifier featuring a tracking power-supply and an active noise shaping unit for reducing non-linearly and audible noise. Several variations of an non-inductive switched-capacitor tracking power-supply are presented, which are well-suited to integrated-circuit implementation and battery operation, and which provide an efficient power supply for the output stage over a wide range of voltages that can exceed the voltage limits of the main power source. The output of the tracking power-supply can be fed into an analog power stage, or can be used as a Multi-Level Quantizer for generating the output directly. A feedback and noise shaping allows the use of low-cost components while relaxing design constraints. Some simple switching strategies are disclosed which offer power efficiencies in excess of 80%.

High-efficiency audio power amplifier

An apparatus for conveying to a listener a pseudo low frequency psycho-acoustic sensation (Pseudo-LFPS) of a sound signal, including: frequency unit capable of deriving from the sound signal high frequency signal and low frequency signal (LF signal) that extends over a low frequency range of interest. Harmonics generator coupled to the frequency generator and being capable of generating, for each fundamental frequency within the low frequency range of interest, a residue harmonic signal having a sequence of harmonics. The sequence of harmonics, generated with respect to each fundamental frequency contains a first group of harmonics that includes at least three consecutive harmonics from among a primary set of harmonics of the fundamental frequency. Loudness generator coupled to the harmonics generator and being capable of bringing the loudness of the residue harmonic signal to match the loudness of the low frequency signal. Summation unit capable of summing the residue harmonic signal and the high frequency signal so as to obtain psychoacoustic alternative signal.
