The invention described herein includes a self-neutralizing amino acid-based cationic composition that contains an amino acid-based cationic ester, a nonionic amphiphile, and an anhydrous buffering agent. In an embodiment, the composition, when dispersed or dissolved in an aqueous solvent, provides a resultant solution/dispersion having a pH of greater than about 4. The amino acid-based cationic ester may be a reaction product of (i) an amino acid having a non-polar side chain, and an amine group that has been neutralized with an acid; with (ii) a long chain fatty alcohol. Also included within the scope of the invention are methods of preparing a self-neutralizing amino acid-based cationic composition, such method including combining an amino acid-based cationic ester, a nonionic amphiphile and an anhydrous buffering agent. The resulting composition is in an anhydrous solid form. Formulations containing the amino acid-based cationic ester and/or a composition that includes it, are also disclosed.

Self-neutralizing amino acid based cationic compositions

Described herein are compositions that include monoclonal antibodies that specifically bind Hsp90&#x3b1; and methods of using the same to treat HIF-1a-overexpressing cancer. In some embodiments, the cancers are breast cancer or lung cancer. The monoclonal antibodies bind the epitope TKPIWTRNP in Hsp90&#x3b1; or VKHFSVEGQ in Hsp90&#x3b1;.

Compositions and methods for treating HIF-1a over-expressing cancers

The present invention discloses a method for treating wounds and for accelerating the healing of wounds by administering an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition containing type VII collagen protein, mini-C7 protein, variants thereof or any combinations thereof. The pharmaceutical composition may be administered through a variety of routes including intravenous injection, topical application, or oral ingestion. The method may further include administering a genetically modified fibroblast capable of expressing type VII collagen protein, miniC7 protein, variants thereof or small growth factors to achieve synergistic healing effect.

Method for promoting wound healing

Compositions and methods for treating HIF-1&#x3b1; over-expressing cancers

This invention provides methods of inducing and maintaining osteogenic potential in mesenchymal stem cells and compositions for doing the same. The compositions this invention comprise collagen 7 (C7), the NC1 domain of C7, or the 27 kD fragment of C7. Also provided are methods for treating bone diseases and correcting bone defects by applying compositions of this invention or by first priming ex vivo mesenchymal stem cells with compositions of this invention and then applying the primed mesenchymal stem cells to the patient. The invention further provides a mesenchymal stem cell osteogenesis induction kit.

Use of collagen type VII for maintaining and re-inducing osteogenic abilities of mesenchymal stem cells

Disclosed are compositions and methods for accelerating wound closure and preventing inhibiting or reducing scarring or fibrosis. The methods of the present invention include administering to a person in need thereof an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising collagen 7 and/or one or more functional fragments or variants thereof. The functional fragments generally comprise at least one of the nine Fibronectin Type III-like Region of the NC1 region of collagen 7.

Polypeptide compositions with type VII collagen fibronectin type III-like repeats and treatment methods for wound closure and healing

A wound healing composition comprising a class of polypeptide compounds having a polypeptide chain with 5 to 120 amino acid units per chain. The composition includes a pharmaceutical medium to carry the polypeptide compound, such as an aqueous solution, suspension, dispersion, salve, ointment, gel, cream, lotion, spray or paste. Additionally, a method of applying a wound healing composition comprising a class of polypeptide compounds having a polypeptide chain with 5 to 120 amino acid units per chain in a concentration of from about 1 &#x3bc;g/ml to about 100 &#x3bc;g/ml for a time sufficient to heal the wound is disclosed.

Methods of use of skin wound healing compositions

A wound healing composition comprising an amount of heat shock protein effective to promote wound healing and a method thereof to apply the composition. A preferred heat shock protein is either full-length hsp90&#x3b1; or the middle domain plus the charged sequence of hsp90&#x3b1;. The composition is topically applied to skin wounds, covering the outer surface of the wound. The heat shock protein acts by promoting migration of both human epidermal keratinocyte and dermal fibroblasts to the wound in order to close, heal, and remodel the wound.
