A lateral flow assay (LFA) device includes a capillary pad and a sample port that holds the sample fluid before a hole is made in a cavity surface of the sample port. The LFA device includes a breaker with a tip to make a hole in the cavity wall of the sample port causing the sample fluid held inside the compartment to be applied to the capillary pad after the start of a test.

An intravenous (IV) fluid delivery system include an IV bag and a fluid delivery device. The IV bag is made of many fluidic channels that keep the fluid distributed across the bag such that the bag may be easily and comfortably wrapped around the arm and shoulder of a person. At least some of the fluidic channels have a slanted shape to maximize emptying the contents of the IV bag as the fluid is injected to the patient's vein. The system includes a pump that moves the fluid into a tube and a needle that is connected to a person's vein. The processor repeatedly turns the pump on or off to gradually transfer the fluid from the IV bag into the person's vein. The processor controls the delivery of the fluid based on the patient's biometric data and/or hand movements as measured by the fluid delivery device.

Wearable intravenous fluid delivery system

An intravenous (IV) fluid delivery system include first and second IV bags and a fluid delivery device. The IV bags are made of many fluidic channels that keep the fluid distributed across the bags such that the bags may be easily and comfortably wrapped around the arm and shoulder of a person. The fluid delivery device includes a processor controlled electromechanical delivery mechanism that controls a positive displacement pump. The pump moves the fluid into a tube and a needle that is connected to a person's vein. The processor repeatedly turns the pump on or off to gradually transfer the fluid from the IV bags into the person's vein. The processor controls the granularity of the fluid delivery, where the fluid may be administered in a fluid delivery period, the fluid delivery may then be stopped in a subsequent fluid stoppage period, followed by other fluid delivery periods.

An intradermal fluid delivery device that uses a processor controlled electromechanical delivery mechanism is provided. An air pump pushes fluid containing medication or saline from a fluid compartment through a microneedle array into a person's skin. The processor repeatedly turns the air pump on or off, for the fluid to gradually be injected into the person's skin. The processor may be configured to control the total fluid delivery time as well as the granularity of the fluid delivery. The total fluid delivery time may be set to T, and the time period T may be divided into smaller periods tto t, where the fluid may be administered in a period t1, the fluid delivery may then be stopped for a period t2, followed by another fluid delivery period, etc. The periods t1 to tn may be the same or of different lengths.

A lateral flow assay (LFA) device includes a sample port that holds the sample fluid before a hole is made in a wall of the sample port. The LFA device includes a cap with a sealer. The sealer fits inside the sample port after the sample port receives the sample fluid, forms a compartment for holding a predetermined volume of sample fluid between the sample port's wall and the sealer, and pushes any amount of sample fluid in excess of the predetermined volume out of the compartment after the cap is fitted inside the sample port. The LFA device includes a breaker with a tip to make a hole in the wall of the sample port causing the sample fluid held inside the compartment to be applied to the capillary pad after the start of a test.
