A working electrode is inserted into the plant to monitor the health of the plant components or to detect physical, mechanical damage or environmental change in the soil or atmosphere. A standard electrode is inserted into soil surrounding the plant or in the plant itself. A data logger connects the working electrode and the standard electrode. The data logger measures the potential difference between the working electrode and the electrolyte to provide the ability to compare a measured potential difference with a predetermined critical potential difference for the plant. A second electrochemical cell can inject electrons and ions into the plant. The plant can be used as a sensor to monitor the environmental change in the soil or in the atmosphere.

Electrochemical plant activity monitor

A metal structure is supported by a concrete foundation with a ground ring nearby. A telecommunication module configured to operate with a 5G wireless standard is mounted on top of the metal structure and separated from the metal structure by an insulating barrier. The ground ring has at least three monopole grounding wires. A grounding cable connects the telecommunication module to the ground ring. A base transfer station cabinet is offsite from the metal structure and includes a plurality of cabinet ground conductor wires connecting to the ground ring. A hybrid cable, comprising a supply cable and a return cable, connects the base transfer station cabinet to the telecommunication module. Any stray current from the telecommunication module is directed away from the metal structure by the insulating barrier, and the stray current is directed to the ground ring through the grounding cable.

Corrosion control for 5G equipment

A data collection device and a temperature monitor unit monitors the temperature of a remote structure. The temperature monitor unit has a thermocouple, a communications device assembly having an antenna and a transmitter, a power supply for powering the controller and the communications device, and an enclosure for surrounding the communications device and the power supply with the thermocouple and the antenna extending therethrough. The communications device obtains a temperature from the thermocouple and activates the transmitter to send the temperature to the data collection device through the antenna.

Remote structure temperature monitor

A system for detecting the formation of a crack in a metal joint includes an electrochemical electrical current detection device. Carrier material surrounds the metal joint, at least partially, with conductive media having electrolyte therein. An auxiliary electrode is in electrical contact with the carrier material. The placement of the auxiliary electrode in electrical contact with carrier material forms a passive layer on the metal joint. The formation of a crack in the metal joint ruptures the passive layer to generate a current for detection by the electrochemical electrical current detection device.

Electrochemical crack detector

A plant is in growth media having an aqueous solution having an electrolyte with a plurality of charged coloring agents therein. An electrochemical cell has a first electrode inserted into the growth media and a second electrode inserted into the plant with the first electrode being coupled to the second electrode to form a potential difference therebetween. The potential difference drives the plurality of charged coloring agents from the growth media into the plant to color the plant.

Electrochemical coloring of plants

A non-destructive testing apparatus generates an electric current in a test coupon that is adjacent to the metallic structure. The non-destructive testing apparatus measures the electric current to produce at least one electric current measurement. The non-destructive testing apparatus correlates the at least one electric current measurement with the quantity of a predetermined iron oxide in the test coupon to determine a proxy for the degree of alternating current interference corrosion in the metallic structure.

Alternating current interference corrosion detector

The graphitization of a sample having a sample surface and bulk material adjacent to the sample surface is determined with a housing holding a potentiometer and a processor connected to the potentiometer. The processor receives electric potential measurements from the potentiometer at the sample surface and uses the electric potential measurements to quantify the graphitization of the bulk material adjacent to the sample surface to generate graphitization data for output.

Non-destructive testing system for detecting graphitization of iron

A plurality of disparate datasets is aggregated into a geodata data structure specifying a plurality of geospatial locations and a set of aspatial parameters at each geospatial location. Each aspatial parameter is combined at each geospatial location to generate an atmospheric corrosivity scale parameter at each of the plurality of geospatial locations. A grid is created with cells representing each of the plurality of geospatial locations and each of the corresponding atmospheric corrosivity scale parameters. The grid is stored for output of at least a portion of the plurality of geospatial locations and the corresponding atmospheric corrosivity scale parameters overlaid on a geographic map.

A sensor measures the interaction of an applied magnetic field to an iron sample surface to determine whether the sample surface has been graphitized. The sensor measures the magnetic force resulting from the interaction or the magnetic flux density to determine the content of magnetic material in localized regions of the sample surface. The sensor includes a cantilever beam with a strain gauge for measuring magnetic force. Alternatively, the sensor includes a magnetic flux density sensor to measure magnetic flux density.

Non-destructive testing apparatus for the detection of corrosion

An electrochemical sensor for corrosive gases that contains at least two electrodes is described. The presence of a target corrosive gas results in the formation of metal ions that can be reduced at an electrode producing an electrical current that depends on the instantaneous corrosive gas concentration and deposition of the metal on the electrode. Extension of this deposit to a second electrode through further deposition will result in a short circuit, the longer the time to the short circuit, the lower the cumulative corrosive gas concentration.

Atmospheric corrosion sensor

A fuel tank that is at least partially formed of a corrosion-resistant coated metal that is coated with a corrosion resistant alloy. The corrosion resistant alloy is a tin metal alloy or a tin and zinc metal alloy. The corrosion resistant alloy may also include one or more metal additives to improve the coating process and/or to alter the properties of the tin or tin and zinc metal alloy.
