A plastic pyrolytic conversion vessel comprises a conveying mechanism for moving a liquid, or a semi-molten, or a molten waste material, or a solid inert residue, or any combination thereof through the vessel. During pyrolyzation of the waste material, the same is heated and vaporized and undergoes in situ chemical reactions comprising cracking, recombination, reforming, recracking, and the like, and is subsequently removed from the vessel. A plurality of scraper blades serve to mix the liquid, or the semi-molten, or the molten waste material, or a solid inert residue, or any combination thereof and convey the waste material forward toward a vessel egress. In another embodiment, one or more sweeping devices serve to move forward the waste material that is located between adjacent rotating conveyor devices.

A plastic conversion feeding system serves to transport a feedstock through different processing units or stations to a vessel wherein chemical and/or physical reactions occur to produce suitable, useful end products. Various processing units include a homogenizer for breaking up said feedstock, a size reduction device for reducing the feedstock to particles and densifying the same, a heating and/or blending device for heating said feedstock, and a feed conduit connecting said heating and blending device to said vessel. The feedstock conversion unit vessel through various cracking, reforming, condensation, recombination, and recracking operations, produces a mixture of useful gases and condensable gases.

The support mechanisms of the present invention comprise a vessel supported by suspension cables suspended from trollies that can move along the length (longitudinal) of a framework. The support system is such that waste material, even upon heating, cooling, etc., can constantly and smoothly move through the entire system, with the vessel generally being in a natural, balanced orientation.

Plastic conversion vessels such as pyrolytic reactors convert plastic waste materials such as polymers, or hydrocarboneous material, or both, via in situ chemical reactions comprising cracking, recombination, reforming, recracking, and the like, to usable chemical compounds such as naphtha, diesel fuel, heavy oil, wax, and the like. Inherent within the polymers and/or carbonaceous material are generally solid, inert residues such as various fillers, pigments, flame retardants, silica, aluminum, talc, glass, clay, and so forth. Such solid inert residues (SIR) must be treated to remove residual volatile organic material therefrom in order to meet acceptable environmental standards and/or limits. A heated dryer for treating the SIR comprises heating units to remove excessive volatile organic material therefrom as when moved along a conveyor that transfers said material to a collection area. The collection area comprises one or more pistons that are capable of compacting and discharging said SIR material. Another collection area embodiment comprises a plurality of plungers that transfer the SIR material from said collection area to a plunger collection area, and subsequently to a collection container.

A process and an apparatus for pyrolysis of mixed plastic feedstock producing petroleum products are described. In one example, a process for producing petroleum products includes charging feedstock of mixed polymer materials into a reactor apparatus. Heat energy is applied to the feedstock while advancing the feedstock through the reactor apparatus in an anaerobic operation. The energy input to the reactor apparatus is controlled by controlling a temperature gradient within the reactor vessel to produce petroleum gas product. The process involves in situ chemical reactions comprising cracking and recombination reactions that that are controlled to convert solid hydrocarbonaceous portion of the feedstock to molten fluids and gases inside the reactor vessel and to produce gaseous petroleum products which exit the reactor vessel. The separated solid residue from the pyrolysis process is also removed from the reactions vessel.

One or more new, or existing, or modified, open bottom bio-remediation reactors R are contained within a commercial, industrial, or municipal waste water aeration treatment facility or tank directly above existing and/or new stand-alone diffusers located on the bottom of the facility or tank. The reactors R increase solubility of air and/or oxygen in water, increase energy efficiency, increase through put of treated waste water, and improve bio-remediation of the waste water. Also, a tube reactor having no packing substrates in a non-tube area is described.

An aerobic treatment system includes a plurality of highly porous, high surface area, inert, synthetic, inorganic, or natural material particles, having a specific gravity of less than 1.0 that float on an enclosed aqueous environment whereby plants and/or microbes can be grown thereon and/or animals such as fish can be raised therein. The inert particles trap air bubbles and nutrients for the growth of diverse types of plants, animals, or microbial systems, which enable phyto treatment of an aqueous waterbody with the ability to limit the growth of unwanted plant and algae such as blue-green algae. The above aerobic bio treatment system contains desirably bioremediation media having one or more microorganisms that are able to withstand system shocks while minimizing energy usage associated with aeration. The system can generally be utilized in any aqueous environment such as waste water and/or polluted water in an enclosed area such as a container, tank, pond, lake, or the like.

A smart enclosure protection system for packages containing one or more metals comprises various sensors such as relative humidity, temperature of the metal, temperature within the package, a volatile corrosion inhibitor sensor, as well as a relative humidity sensor. Upon a computer receiving a signal from one or more of the noted sensors that the sensing item is either above or below a predetermined value, it will send a signal to one or more dispensers such as a dehumidifying compound dispenser, a volatile corrosion inhibitor compound dispenser, a soluble corrosion inhibitor compound dispenser, or a chemical fluid absorber or scavenger dispenser to dispense one or more such dispensing compounds that abates or removes an actual or a potential corrosion inhibiting situation.

Numerous different types of waste compositions generally in an aqueous environment are bio-remediated under aerobic conditions utilizing highly diverse and multiple microorganisms within a reactor. The process is carried out with the microorganisms attached or bound by a variety of different surface characteristics to packing substrates, located within the reactor, having high surface areas and high porosity in the form of small micropores. Multiple different types of substrates are generally utilized that efficiently dissolve air into the water, as well as to maximize the concentration and diversity of types of microorganisms. Reactors are utilized that desirably have tubes therein containing the multiple types of packings and microorganisms and contain at least one perforated chimney through which air can flow and optimize dissolving oxygen into the aqueous environment of the various bio-remediation stages.

A waterproof roofing laminate comprises a cellular plastic support layer, an insulation layer located thereon, and a cover layer that reflects radiant energy such as infrared light, visible sunlight, and ultraviolet light. The cellular support layer contains a plurality of cavities therein that can be open or closed cell. The support layer can also have a solid continuous top and/or bottom surface layer. The insulation layer is located on the support layer and can be formed of numerous materials including natural or synthetic fibers, organic or inorganic material, and is free of cement and styrofoam. Numerous different types of waste compositions generally in an aqueous environment are bio-remediated under aerobic conditions utilizing highly diverse and multiple microorganisms within a reactor. The reactors house maximum biodiversity to bio-remediate waste compositions in various wastewaters encountered from industrial, commercial, municipal and residential sources.

A biodegradable thermoplastic polymer masterbatch composition comprising a blend of at least one biodegradable thermoplastic polymer containing high loading of a particulate filler uniformly dispersed therein. The amount of the biodegradable thermoplastic polymer is generally from about 25% to about 50% by weight and the amount of the filler is from about 75% to about 50% by weight, based upon the total amount of one biodegradable polymer and the at least one filler. The uniform dispersion of the fillers is desirably obtained by adding small particles of the filler to a melt of the biodegradable polymer and blending using high shear equipment with special screw geometry. The masterbatch composition is then physically blended with additional biodegradable thermoplastic polymer and extrusion processed into final articles such as blown and cast films, molded products, and the like. The masterbatch multi-stage approach of the present invention results in a product that has improved physical properties and lower costs over that of a one step blend of the same amount of a biodegradable thermoplastic polymer and a filler that is subsequently heat formed into a final product.

The present invention relates to various processes that utilize one or more supercritical fluids to disperse various inorganic and organic materials, including crystalline materials, into polymeric compositions, substrates or pre-formed articles without the utilization of melt processing of the polymeric compositions or exposing the various inorganic and organic materials and the polymers (or polymeric precursors) to a hot environment. The present invention also describes the unique properties that can be imparted to a polymer/resin composition or article once it has been subjected to a process according to the present invention versus those normally attributable to conventionally treated/processed polymer materials.

A process for rapidly infusing a synthetic resinous substrate with an alkali metal nitrite, comprises (a) essentially completely dissolving the alkali metal nitrite in supercritical carbon dioxide to form a solids-free solution having from about 1 to 15% by weight of the alkali metal nitrite; (b) contacting the synthetic resinous substrate with the solution for a time sufficient to transfer at least a portion of the alkali metal nitrite into the synthetic resinous substrate while maintaining the carbon dioxide under supercritical conditions; and, (c) decreasing pressure or temperature, or both, on the synthetic resinous material sufficiently to evolve carbon dioxide and leave micronized solid alkali metal nitrite crystals in an amount less than 2% by weight essentially uniformly distributed in the synthetic resinous substrate. If desired, up to about 15% by weight of sodium nitrite or potassium nitrite may be transported and deposited in the substrate if transparency of the substrate is irrelevant, because the substrate tends to become opaque.
