A location of a mobile phone in a cellular network is determined when the mobile phone has been turned off, placed in airplane mode, inactive mode or in idle mode. A first cell of interest and times of interest is received, and a location determination server in communication with the cellular network requests call data records (CDRs) associated with the first cell of interest and the times of interest. The location determination server receives the requested CDRs and determines possible locations of the mobile phone at the times of interest when the mobile phone antenna is powered off, airplane mode, idle or inactive using the received CDRs.

Various arrangements for improving cell coverage are presented. A cellular network can define a first bandwidth part and a second bandwidth part to be implemented concurrently by a base station of the cellular network. The first bandwidth part and the second bandwidth part do not overlap and may be separated by a guard band. The first bandwidth part can have a greater bandwidth and greater sub-carrier spacing than the second bandwidth part. The cellular network can determine a first set of user equipment to use the first bandwidth part for communication with the base station and a second set of user equipment to use the second bandwidth part for communication with the base station. Communication with the first set of user equipment using the first bandwidth part and the second set of user equipment using the second bandwidth part may be performed.

Multiple concurrent bandwidth parts for a base station of a cellular network

Uplink and downlink resources within a wireless network are assigned such that full duplex operation is enabled within a bandwidth parts. A first bandwidth part and non-overlapping second bandwidth part are assigned for use by respective first and second groups of user equipment. Uplink resources and downlink resources are also allocated within each bandwidth part. The uplink and downlink resources may be specified by a subband within the each bandwidth part and a timeslot, to thereby enable duplex operation of the first group of user equipment. Communications are then performed with the first group of user equipment using the uplink and downlink resources of first bandwidth part and communication with the second group of user equipment is performed using the uplink and downlink resources of the second bandwidth part.

Assigning uplink and downlink resources within bandwidth parts

A UE may receive input indicating an attempt to place an emergency call. The UE may communicate with a first cellular network to connect the emergency call. The UE may generate a first SIP header, the SIP header including first location data indicating a first location of the UE. The UE may transmit the SIP header including the first location data via a user plane function of the first cellular network. While the emergency call is ongoing, the UE may disconnect from the first cellular network and connect to a second cellular network. The UE may communicate with the second cellular network to continue the emergency call. The UE may then generate a second SIP header including second location data indicating a second location of the UE. The UE may transmit the second SIP header including the second location data via the user plane function of the first cellular network.

Location tracking following emergency call handoffs

Systems and methods are described herein for utilizing dynamic terrestrial and non-terrestrial intra gNodeB handover in a wireless network. A location of a user device connecting to the network is determined. In response to the user device being located within a terrestrial-only coverage area of the network, the user device is connected to a terrestrial cell within the terrestrial-only coverage area. In response to the user device being located within a boundary area of the network, a terrestrial cell in the boundary area is selected and a cluster associated with that terrestrial cell is identified. The user device is connected to that terrestrial cell based on that cluster. But in response to the user device being located within a non-terrestrial-only coverage area of the network, a cluster associated with a terrestrial cell within the boundary area closest to the user device is identified, and the user device is connected to a non-terrestrial cell based on that cluster.

O-RAN based dynamic terrestrial and non-terrestrial intra g_Node_B handover

An example system and method may manage interference for wireless devices in a non-terrestrial network environment. An example system may determine spectrum blanking ranges for a wireless client device, where the spectrum blanking range restricts wireless frequencies in the spectrum blanking range from being assigned to wireless client devices by ground node. The system may determine a signal quality indicator value for a wireless client device, determine an assignable spectrum range for the wireless client device based on the signal quality indicator value and the spectrum blanking range(s), and assign a channel to the wireless client device using the assignable spectrum range.

Managing interference for wireless devices in a non-terrestrial network environment

A new radio base station establishes a first and a second component carrier in carrier aggregation. The first and second component carrier overlap each other. The base station transmits signaling and control information exclusively on the first component carrier. The base station transmits data packets on the first component carrier and on a non-overlapping portion of the second component carrier.

Method and system for utilizing non-standard bandwidths using carrier aggregation for devices supporting standard bandwidths

Cross Link Interference (CLI) within a wireless network is mitigated by characterizing a communication path that introduces the CLI on an uplink resource. Mitigation is achieved by receiving, from a neighboring device, information related to a downlink resource scheduling decision. The neighboring device then delays its downlink resource transmission. Transmissions received on an uplink resource may then be corrected.

Cross link interference mitigation for full duplex wireless systems

Embodiments provide novel approaches to handling network slice groups in access stratum and non-access stratum communications in a cellular communication network. Novel slice identification schema can support group-level identification of groups of network slices without individually listing the network slices. Some embodiments implement a slice identifier that supports wildcard slice/service type (SST) options and/or wildcard slice differentiator (SD) options to support wildcard-enabled slice groups. Some embodiments enable use of such wildcard-enabled slice groups in context of unified access control. Some embodiments introduce a novel criteria type to unified access control to expressly support flexible slice grouping.

Network slicing group

An apparatus comprises a memory and a processor communicatively coupled to one another. The memory may be configured to store one or more directories comprising access to multiple tenant profiles and one or more network access commands configured to provide access to one or more entitlements. Each tenant profile of the tenant profiles are associated with one or more services. The processor may be configured to receive a request to access at least one service. The request comprises an application function identifier (AFID) comprising a tenant ID that references a tenant profile of the tenant profiles, a department ID that references multiple entitlements associated with the tenant profile, and an API ID that references a service associated with the entitlements. Further, the processor may be configured to generate a report comprising multiple network access commands configured to enable access to the service in accordance with the entitlements.

System and method to map hierarchical multi-tenant access to services

Technologies for efficient handover in 5G networks are disclosed. An example method includes responsive to detecting that a user device is located in a geographic area with overlapping 5G coverage from a first gNB and a second gNB and that the user device is moving away from the first gNB's coverage toward the second gNB's coverage, determining to perform a light inter-gNB handover of the user device, and causing execution of the light inter-gNB handover by at least causing a physical switch from a physical CU-CP of the first gNB to a physical CU-CP of the second gNB, a logical switch from a logical CU-UP of the first gNB to a logical CU-UP of the second gNB, a logical switch from a logical DU of the first gNB to a logical DU of the second gBN, and a logical switch from a logical RU of the first gNB to a logical RU of the second gBN, wherein the logical switches are performed without transfer of context data associated with the user device.

Efficient handover in 5G networks

Data center architectures for providing Network Functions (NFs) in telecommunications networks are disclosed. A 5G or 6G wireless service provider with an existing 5G or 6G core network in one or more clouds can add several NFs in another cloud to optimize certain service(s). These NFs may already exist in the core, but for different services. A 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) customer could also incrementally migrate to a public cloud rather than migrating all NFs at once.

Multi-cloud data center architectures for providing network functions in telecommunications networks

Disclosed is a method performed by a UE device that routes traffic to a 5G Core Network. The method includes receiving a first ATSSS rule including first traffic descriptor information and first steering mode information that identifies a first 3GPP access network operated by a first MNO, and a second ATSSS rule including second traffic descriptor information and second steering mode information that identifies a second 3GPP access network operated by the first MNO or a second MNO; transmitting a first type of traffic corresponding to the first traffic descriptor information included in the first ATSSS rule to the first 3GPP access network operated by the first MNO; and transmitting the first type of traffic or a second type of traffic corresponding to the second traffic descriptor information included in the second ATSSS rule to the second 3GPP access network operated by the first MNO or the second MNO.

ATSSS multiple 3GPP access for enhanced performance

Example embodiments include systems and methods for load balancing based on current UPF load and thresholds that depend on UPF capacity; UPF load balancing using predicted throughput of new UE on the network based on network data analytics; UPF load balancing based on special considerations for low latency traffic; UPF load balancing supporting multiple slices, maintaining several load-thresholds for each UPF and each slice depending on the UPF and network slice capacity; and UPF load balancing using predicted central processing unit (CPU) utilization and/or predicted memory utilization of new UE on the network based on network data analytics.
