Curable compositions are provided. In embodiments, a curable composition comprises curable prepolymers selected from the group consisting of epoxy prepolymers and silicone prepolymers, and a curing rate modifier that increases a rate of crosslinking reactions between the curable prepolymers as compared to a comparative curable composition without the curing rate modifier, wherein the curing rate modifier does not cure the curable composition in the absence of a hardener present in the curable composition, a catalyst present in the curable composition, water, or a combination thereof. Methods of using the curable compositions are also provided.

Rapid curing of curable compositions

The present disclosure provides coupling systems for use in industrial systems to removably couple one or more components to the industrial system. The coupling systems discussed herein employ a flexible sleeve in addition to one or more components. The flexible sleeve can have a component disposed therein. When pressure is applied to the flexible sleeve, the flexible sleeve constricts around the component, securing the component in the coupling system and thus to the industrial system. Once the component is secured, the industrial system executes one or more processes on the component. The coupling systems discussed herein can accommodate components of varying internal and external geometries as well as internal and/or external coatings and surface finishes.

Coupling systems and methods of use thereof

An apparatus for removing material from an object surface is disclosed, including a fluid source, a flexible carrier, and a tubular member. The tubular member is connected to the flexible carrier, which is configured to conform to the object surface. The tubular member is configured to carry fluid from the fluid source to the flexible carrier, and has an aperture configured to release fluid and generate cavitation bubbles proximate the object surface.

The present disclosure provides a cleaning system, including a first sub-chamber, a second sub-chamber adjacent to the first sub-chamber, and a third sub-chamber adjacent to the second sub-chamber. A first divider is positioned between the first and the second sub-chambers. A second divider is positioned between the second and the third sub-chambers. A vacuum system is coupled to the third sub-chamber to generate a vacuum pressure in the third sub-chamber that is less than a pressure of the first sub-chamber to create a pressure differential to induce a pressurized flow of a first cleaning media from the first sub-chamber to the third sub-chamber through an internal passage of a component positioned in the second sub-chamber. A filtering system is coupled to the first sub-chamber and the third sub-chamber to remove and filter the first cleaning media from the third sub-chamber and return the first cleaning media to the first sub-chamber.

A process for additive manufacture of an article comprises conveying a material through a heated nozzle to form a flowing mass of the material. The material comprises a polymer matrix including a plurality of polymeric chains and an alignment additive dispersible within the polymer matrix. The alignment additive is configured to align the plurality of polymeric chains in a flow direction of the flowing mass of the material. The process further comprises aligning at least a portion of the polymeric chains, via the alignment additive, along a direction of flow through the heated nozzle, releasing the flowing mass of the material from the heated nozzle, and allowing the material to solidify.

The present disclosure provides a method of enhancing the shelf-life of an activated surface of a thermoplastic material, including: coating at least a portion of a surface of the thermoplastic material with at least one adhesion promoter to provide a coated surface; and treating the coated surface with plasma to provide the activated surface of the thermoplastic material; wherein the activated surface has a contact angle in the range of from about 0 to about 40&#xb0;; and wherein the presence of the at least one adhesion promoter is effective to maintain the contact angle in the range of from about 0 to about 40&#xb0; for a time of about 10 days or greater.

A method of using an ultrasonic system includes positioning at least one component to a ultrasonic system, the ultrasonic system including: an ultrasonic device, comprising a plurality of ultrasonic transducers coupled to a flexible body; a power supply coupled to the ultrasonic device; a fluid vessel configured to supply fluid to the at least one component; and a waste vessel configured to collect the fluid supplied to the ultrasonic device from the fluid vessel. Systems and methods for monitoring the health of an adhesive interface include the formation of an adhesive bond using an adhesive system incorporating molecular-scale magnetic markers covalently attached to polymer components, acquisition of images representing the distribution of magnetic markers within the adhesive bond at a first time and at a later time, and comparison of the images to detect displacement of the magnetic markers between the first time and the later time. The covalent link between the magnetic markers and the adhesive polymer components locks the magnetic markers in place as long as the adhesive bond remains healthy, so displacement of the magnetic markers between the first time and the later time indicates the presence of a bond defect. The images may be acquired using magnetic particle imaging and compared using digital image correlation. Chemical compositions for the magnetic markers are disclosed.
