A spool body is provided that is adapted for use in a vibrating densitometer. The spool body comprises a core and a plurality of spines that emanate distally from the core. At least one channel is defined by the plurality of spines, wherein a cantilever mode of the spool body lies outside a predetermined natural frequency range of a vibrating tube portion of the vibrating densitometer.

A vibrating member adapted for use in a vibrating densitometer is provided. The vibrating member comprises a base and a vibrating tube portion affixed to the base. The vibrating tube portion comprises an inner diameter and an outer diameter, wherein the inner diameter is axially shifted from the outer diameter such that the inner diameter is not concentric with the outer diameter, and wherein the axial shift increases a frequency separation between vibration modes in the vibrating tube portion.

The inner surface () of the vibrating member () also includes one or more raised portions () sized and located to increase a frequency separation between a resonant frequency of a desired vibrational drive mode and a resonant frequency of one or more undesired vibrational modes.

A method of forming a corrosion-resistant vibratory flowmeter is provided. The method comprises constructing a flowmeter assembly including one or more flow tubes configured to be vibrated, with the method being characterized by coating at least a portion of the flowmeter assembly with a diffusion coating, with the diffusion coating being diffused into and comprising a part of the flowmeter assembly.
