The method includes receiving information about a channel state information (CSI) report. The information indicates N>1 groups of CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) ports and a list of S states. Each of the S states correspond to a subset of the N groups of CSI-RS ports. The method further includes, based on the information, selecting at least one state from the list of S states, measuring at least one of the N groups of CSI-RS ports, and determining CSI based on the measurement. The method further includes transmitting the CSI report including the determined CSI.
