An augmenting controller for augmenting control of an actuator by a component controller. The actuator is operable to change an operational parameter of a component of a drilling rig. The component controller is configured for communicating control signals to the actuator to control the actuator and thereby control operation of the component. The augmenting controller is operable to augment the control signals.

Controller augmenting existing control system

First time-based data, indicative of a first parameter, varies in value with respect to time and is associated with a drilling operation utilized to construct a well extending into a subterranean formation. A moving window transform of second time-based data is performed to generate a three-dimensional expression of frequency and amplitude of the first parameter or a second parameter. The second time-based data is based on the first time-based data. The second parameter varies in value with respect to time and is dependent upon the first parameter. The drilling operation is assessed based on the expression.

Performance index using frequency or frequency-time domain

Automation agents are utilized to modify operating characteristics of a client, such as a piece of equipment. An operating characteristic of equipment can be selectively adjusted by modification of a set point value, which is associated with the operating characteristic of the equipment. The equipment can adjust the operating characteristic based upon the set point value. A remote control indication can be provided to indicate when a set point value is available for modification. The remote control indication is adjustable by an execution module associated with the equipment. A set point latch can be provided for indicating when the set point value is modifiable by an automation agent.

A method for aggregating data for a drilling operation. The method includes acquiring the data from a number of data sources associated with the drilling operation, synchronizing a timing of the data for aggregating the data to generate synchronized aggregated data, determining a drilling context based on the synchronized aggregated data, and assigning the determined drilling context to the synchronized aggregated data. The method further includes analyzing the synchronized aggregated data in the drilling context to generate an analysis and presenting the analysis to at least one user.

Data aggregation for drilling operations

A method of determining a particular value on a display, comprises the steps of: moving a time log relative to a time line until the time line identifies a selected time on the time log; moving a plurality of values on the display in synchronism with the moving of the time log relative to the time line; and identifying one of the plurality of values on the display when the time line identifies the selected time on the time log, the one of the plurality of values on the display representing the particular value. The particular value on the display comprises a depth on a depth log representing a depth of a drill bit in a borehole. The depth log moves in synchronism with a movement of the time log when the time log moves relative to the time line.
