The bottom surfaces of an entering surface-forming portion,for forming a light-entering surface,of a reflector type prism,and of an emitting surface-forming portion,for forming a light-emitting surface,of the reflector type prism,are formed as concave surfaces in a die,. Even if shrinkage of the reflector type prism,occurs during its formation, the light-entering surface,and the light-emitting surface,are, at least, not formed as concave surfaces, so that a light beam entering the reflector type prism,and a light beam emitted from the reflector type prism,are prevented from becoming scattered.

A sensor mounting structure superior in durability for supporting by a frame member 17 on one side of a transport path a sensor body 22, including at least one of a light emitter 18 and a light detector 19, for detecting an object being transported along the transport path 12, the mounting structure comprising a pair of rising portions 23 spaced apart from each other and rising from the frame member 17 along both sides of the sensor body 22, each rising portion having a lock portion 24; and a pair of hook portions 25 releasably engaging the lock portions 24, wherein each hook portion 25 is capable of being deformed elastically in the direction in which both hook portions 25 come closer to each other in order to engage or disengage the corresponding lock portions 24.

Sensor mounting structure

An optical read sensor includes a circuit board having light-emitting elements mounted thereon, a transparent cover on which an original to be read is placed, light-receiving elements, and a light-guide that guides the light reflected by the original to the light-receiving elements. The light-emitting elements emit light toward the original. The original reflects the light emitted from the light-emitting elements through the transparent cover. The light guide guides the light reflected by the original to the light-receiving elements.

Optical sensor for reading a pattern

In a photoelectric sensor, a photosensitive device is mounted on a substrate and outputs an electric signal corresponding to light incident thereto. A casing holds the substrate in a bore formed therein and includes a light guide portion formed of an optically transparent material for conducting incident light to the photosensitive device. A light emitting device is also mounted on the substrate for emitting light in response to a current input thereto. A seal member is molded to air-tightly seal the light emitting device and photosensitive device except for a light guide portion included in the light emitting device and a light guide portion included in the photosensitive device.
