An intracardiac imaging system has an MRI compatible intracardiac echography catheter having transmitters, receivers, a multiplexer, and a beamformer. The catheter can include an atraumatic tip disposed on the distal end of the catheter, a pair of inductively coupled coils proximal the atraumatic tip, at least one CMUT-on-CMOS volumetric imaging chip disposed between the pair of coils, and a cable lumen disposed within the volume sized to house a small number of electrical connections due to significant multiplexing in the CMUT-on-CMOS chip. The catheter can be made of MRI compatible materials and can include active cooling channels.

MRI compatible 3-D intracardiac echography catheter and system

A neurotrophic electrode system includes a non-conductive cone, a multi-channel electrode assembly, a dielectric ribbon and a neurite-attracting substance disposed within the cone. The non-conductive cone consists essentially of a material that is stable in a neural environment and defines a cavity. The cavity opens to a small opening at a first end of the cone and opens to a large opening at a second end of the cone that is opposite the first end. The multi-channel electrode assembly includes at least two recording sites that are disposed within the cavity defined by the cone. Each recording site is coupled to a wire that extends out of the large end of the cone. Each wire ends in a connection pad. The dielectric ribbon encases all of the wires but exposes each recording site and exposes each connection pad.

Neurotrophic electrode system

An intracardiac imaging system has an intracardiac echography catheter with an internal volume, a proximal end and a distal end. The catheter includes an atraumatic tip disposed on the distal end of the catheter, a pair of inductively coupled coils proximal the atraumatic tip, at least one CMUT on CMOS volumetric imaging chip disposed between the pair of coils, and a cable lumen disposed within the volume and configured to small number of electrical connections due to significant multiplexing in the CMUT on CMOS chip. The catheter can be made of MRI compatible materials and can include active cooling channels. The CMUT on CMOS chip has a plurality of Tx elements transmitting imaging pulses, a plurality of Rx elements, disposed on the chip to have a large aperture and a plurality of electronics interfacing with the Tx elements for beamforming and the Rx elements to produce radio frequency output signals.

A real-time wireless system for recording natural tongue movements in the 3D oral space. By attaching a small magnetic tracer to the tongue, either temporarily or semi-permanently, and placing an array of magnetic sensors around the mouth, the tracer can be localized with sub-millimeter precision. The system can also combine the tracer localization with acoustic, video, and flow data via additional sensors to form a comprehensive audiovisual biofeedback mechanism for diagnosing speech impairments and improving speech therapy. Additionally, the system can record tongue trajectories and create an indexed library of such traces. The indexed library can be used as a tongue tracking silent speech interface. The library can synthesize words, phrases, or execute commands tied to the individual patterns of magnetic field variations or tongue trajectories.

Wireless real-time tongue tracking for speech impairment diagnosis, speech therapy with audiovisual biofeedback, and silent speech interfaces

A wireless charging system for inductively charging and/or powering a device. The system includes a stationary base system and a moving subject. The stationary base system includes an array of primary coils that are adapted to generate a magnetic field, and a sensor system. The moving subject carries a device that includes a secondary coil that can be inductively charged and/or powered by the magnetic field emitted from the primary coil, and a magnet to be tracked by the sensor system. The moving subject can move in proximity to a surface of the stationary base system. The sensor system is adapted to communicate the location of the moving subject along the surface, wherein those coils closest to the moving subject may be activated.

Systems and methods for providing wireless power to a portable unit

A method of wirelessly transmitting power or data is disclosed. The method may include the step of providing a transmitter including a driver coil and a first transmitter resonator coil. The driver coil may have a driver coil resonance frequency, and the first transmitter coil may have a first transmitter resonator coil resonance frequency. The method may further include the step of providing a receiver including a load coil having a load coil resonance frequency. Furthermore, the method may include tuning the first transmitter coil resonance frequency to be higher than both of the driver coil resonance frequency and the load coil resonance frequency.

Enhanced inductive power and data transmission using hyper resonance

An intravascular guidewire with integrated imaging and pressure measurement capabilities is disclosed. The guidewire can comprise an integrated CMUT-on-CMOS ultrasound transducer array to provide 3D imaging of vasculature and other tissue. The guidewire can also comprise a conventional FFR pressure sensor or Doppler flow sensor. Due to the low power consumption of the chip, power can be provided via a single pair of wire pair proximate the core wire of the guidewire to provide power and ground to the chip. The system can also include a power wire, a ground wire, and a data wire, the data wire using similar data transmission techniques. Data from the sensor array can be transmitted over the power wire using, for example, RF or impedance modulation. Data can also be transmitted through the body using an ultra wideband wireless transmitter and flexible patch antenna on the skin.

CMUT-on-CMOS based guidewire intravascular imaging

Certain implementations may include systems, methods, and apparatus for wirelessly transmitting data and power across inductive links using pulse delay modulation (PDM). According to an example implementation, a method is provided that includes generating a power carrier signal; generating a data waveform from a series of binary bits, the data waveform including a series of pulses in synchronization with the power carrier signal; transmitting, from one or more transmitting (Tx) coils of an inductive link, the power carrier signal and the data waveform; receiving, by one or more receiving (Rx) coils of the inductive link, an interference signal, the interference signal based at least in part on a superposition of the transmitted power carrier signal and the transmitted data waveform; determining zero crossings of the received interference signal; determining delays associated with the zero crossings; and determining the data packet based at least in part on the delays.

Wideband data and power transmission using pulse delay modulation

A system for transmitting bioelectrical signals. The system includes an implantable bioelectrical sensor for receiving at least one bioelectrical signal; an analog-to-time converter for converting the received bioelectrical signal from an analog domain to a time domain signal; and a radio frequency (RF) modulator for transmitting the time domain signal. The the analog-to-time converter and the RF modulator are implantable in a living being.

Systems and methods for multichannel wireless implantable neural recording

An embodiment provides a pulse harmonic modulation method comprising transmitting a first data initiation pulse to an input of a first resonant circuit thereby creating an oscillating waveform at an output of a second resonant circuit and transmitting a first modifying pulse to the input of the first resonant circuit. The first modifying pulse can modify a first portion of the oscillating waveform.

Pulse harmonic modulation systems and methods

A method of tracking movement, position, or both of a tongue of a subject. The method includes positioning a tracer unit on the tongue of the subject in a non-obstructively manner; positioning a sensor system in proximity to the tongue carrying the tracer unit; calibrating the sensor system relative to the tracer unit; and detecting the position of the tracer unit. An assistive system/apparatus can track movement, position, or both of the tongue. The system/apparatus includes the tracer unit; the sensor system for detecting position of the tracer unit and adapted for non-obstructive placement proximal the sensor system; and a control system for transmitting to a processing system.

Tongue operated magnetic sensor systems and methods

An assistive apparatus and method for remote control of an appliance by a subject are provided. The apparatus can comprise a tracer unit affixed to the tongue of the subject such that a change in position of the tongue changes position of the tracer; at least one sensor for detecting a position of the tracer unit; and a transmitter for transmitting a sensor signal to an appliance based on the detected position of the tracer unit, wherein the sensor signal effects control of the appliance. A method for tracking movement, position, or both of a tongue in a subject using the assistive apparatus is also provided.
