An embodiment for detecting and mitigating bias is provided. The embodiment may include receiving real-world data from a database. The embodiment may also include creating an inverted index from the real-world data. The embodiment may further include analyzing words in the inverted index. The analyzation may identify a plurality of categories in the real-world data. The embodiment may also include generating a structure template containing various entities within each category of the plurality of categories. The embodiment may further include receiving a test record of the structure template. The embodiment may also include providing alternative entities in the test record where bias is likely to occur. The embodiment may further include storing the test record. The embodiment may also include in response to determining bias exists, indicating a corrective action.

Detecting and mitigating bias in natural language processing

A method, system and computer program product for composing a reply to a text message received in a messaging application and automatically changing the settings of an input method editor are provided. The language of a received text message is determined and compared to a current input language of the input method editor. The input language of the input method editor is automatically changed to the determined language for the input of a reply to the received message by a user.

Composing a reply to a text message received in a messaging application

A method and system for language identification are provided. The system includes a feature set of a plurality of character strings of varying length with associated information. The associated information includes one or more significance scores for a character string for one or more of a plurality of languages. Means are provided for detecting character strings from the feature set within a token from an input text. The system uses a finite-state device and the associated information is provided as glosses at the final nodes of the finite-state device for each character string. The associated information can also include significance scores based on linguistic rules.
