The disclosed computer-implemented method may include instant and optimized matching of transportation requesters with transportation providers by precomputing and caching evaluations of matching schemes between existing requests and available providers, where each of the matching schemes excludes one of the available providers. The possibility of matching any new request to a given provider may then be evaluated according to the cached results of the matching scheme that excluded that provider along with an evaluation of matching the new request to the provider, which may be a computationally easy problem. Thus, the new request may be matched to a provider instantly without waiting for the next iteration of solving the global matching problem. Matching requestors and providers in this way may also improve the accuracy of estimated time of arrival information provided to requestors. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Systems and methods for immediate matching of requestor devices to provider devices

Methods and systems for planning and creating transportation routes with multiple modalities are provided. In one embodiment, a method is provided that includes receiving a transportation request that includes a first location and a second location. A transportation proposal may then be generated including a route for transportation between the first location and the second location. The method may then include determining modalities available to provide transportation and determining respective transportation segments for the modalities, and at least a subset of the transportation segments may be combined to form the route for transportation. The transportation proposal, including the route for transportation, may then be transmitted for display on a mobile device.

Transportation route planning and generation

This disclosure describes an active public transit itinerary system that that utilize digital signals and public transit data to accurately, flexibly, and efficiently monitor client device transit progress across public transit vehicles and generate dynamic public transit interfaces. For example, based on comparing digital signals corresponding to the client device and public transit data, the active public transit itinerary system can determine when a client device is traveling on a public transit vehicle. Furthermore, the disclosed systems can actively generate (and provide for display via public transit graphical user interfaces) alternative public transit itineraries. For example, the disclosed systems can generate a public transit graphical user interface that includes updates to the public transit itinerary (e.g., based on downstream changes to public transit segments) or provides more efficient alternative travel paths to the destination.

Utilizing digital signals to intelligently monitor client device transit progress and generate dynamic public transit interfaces

The present disclosure relates to systems, non-transitory computer-readable media, and methods for detecting a potential (or active) shared transportation request from a new requestor's device and an ongoing (or otherwise active) transportation for an existing requestor by a vehicle and then extemporaneously generating an ephemeral-transportation option for display on the new requestor's device to share the ongoing transportation by the vehicle. For example, the disclosed systems can detect a pickup location and a drop-off location associated with a new requestor and one or more active transportations that correlate with the detected locations. Based on the detected pickup and drop-off locations, the disclosed systems match the new requestor with the active transportation by the vehicle for the existing requestor. The disclosed systems then provide, for display on the new requestor's device, an ephemeral-transportation option for the new requestor to share the active transportation with the existing requestor.

Providing ephemeral-transportation options in real time for sharing active transportations

The disclosed computer-implemented method may match transportation requestor devices to transportation provider devices pre-request by using the same matching process employed by a matching engine that is capable of predicting transportation swaps and walks. Multiple matches may be showcased on user devices, and offline transportation providers may see an exact match to a requestor, with an ability to go online and accept the pre-request match. Additional techniques disclosed include the curation and presentation of offers using constraint space partitioning and adjustment of price and/or the presentation of offers based on real-time information to improve the efficiency and/or utilization of transportation provider resources.

Systems and methods for determining a pre-request transportation match between transportation requestor devices and transportation provider devices

The present application discloses systems, methods, and computer-readable media that utilize computer-implemented models to monitor surplus provider device slots and transmit digital invitations to provider devices to join an online mode by dynamically leveraging previous transportation provider device requests within a threshold rejection time span. For instance, the disclosed systems can identify rejected provider devices that requested to be in an online mode of a transportation matching application within a geographical area. Then the disclosed systems can monitor device activity over computer networks and determine a number of surplus provider device slots corresponding to the geographical region. Furthermore, the disclosed systems can select provider devices (that were rejected within a threshold rejection time span) from the previously rejected requests. Furthermore, the disclosed systems can transmit digital invitations to join the online mode to selected provider devices with a guaranteed online mode slot for a threshold reservation time.

Dynamically transmitting online mode invitations to provider devices in response to detected changes in provider device efficiency

Systems and methods for improved transitioning and updating of navigations modes for multi-modal transportation routes are presented. In one embodiment, a method is provided that includes receiving a transportation route, which may include a first segment and a second segment. A first interface associated with the first segment may be displayed and may include a visual indicator of a rate of progress. A predicted travel time may be predicted, based on the rate of progress, to a starting location of the second segment. The visual indicator may be updated based on a comparison of the predicted travel time to a start time of the second segment.

Transition of navigation modes for multi-modal transportation

The present disclosure relates to systems, non-transitory computer-readable media, and methods for dynamically matching requestor devices to generate efficient transportation groups that satisfy user-selected arrival deadlines. In particular, in one or more embodiments, the disclosed systems generate timeslots corresponding to a transportation request including pick-up times, arrival deadlines, and transportation values. In response to receiving user selections of timeslots, the disclosed systems can partition requestor devices into sets of requestor devices. Additionally, the disclosed systems can utilize the sets of requestor devices to match compatible requestor devices to both maximize system efficiency and satisfy selected arrival deadlines for each requestor device.

Providing interfaces with scheduled transportation options to intelligently generate transportation groups

Systems and methods for improved transitioning and updating of navigations modes for multi-modal transportation routes are presented. A transportation route may be received that includes a first segment associated with a first modality and a second segment associated with a second modality. A first interface associated with the first modality may be displayed and a trigger event associated with the first segment may be detected. In response, a second interface may be displayed that is associated with the second modality.

The disclosed systems can regulate access to an online mode for a dynamic transportation matching system. For example, based on a provider efficiency parameter associated with the dynamic transportation matching system, the disclosed systems can prevent a transportation provider device from switching to the online mode within a geographic area. In addition, the disclosed systems can detect a pattern of behavior and, based on a comparison between the pattern of behavior and a behavioral threshold, cause a transportation provider device to switch from the online mode to an offline mode. Further, the disclosed systems can provide a map interface that indicates where a transportation provider device can switch from the offline mode to the online mode. Additionally, the disclosed systems can determine priorities associated with transportation provider devices and, based on the prioritization, selectively allow the transportation provider devices to switch from the offline mode to the online mode.

Dynamically adjusting transportation provider pool size

The disclosed computer-implemented method may include (i) receiving, from a transportation requestor device, a request for transportation that comprises a transportation stop at a location next to a street, (ii) matching, by a dynamic transportation matching system, the transportation requestor device with a transportation provider, and (iii) improving, by the dynamic transportation matching system, a value of fulfilling the request by (a) determining that a near side of the street is closer to the location of the transportation stop than a far side of the street, (b) mapping, based on the determination that the near side of the street is closer to the location of the transportation stop, a driving route that traverses the street, and (c) directing the transportation provider to fulfill the request for transportation by traversing the driving route. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Systems and methods for utilizing side-of-street information while fulfilling transportation requests

The present disclosure relates to systems, non-transitory computer readable media, and methods for determining a transit route to a destination and generating a shortened graphical summary of the transit route to present on a computing device. For instance, in some cases, a system determines a transit route by which transit vehicles transport a user along route segments to a destination. The system further generates or configures a graphical route summary that includes segment graphics representing route segments from the transit route. To shorten the graphical route summary to fit within a graphical user interface, the system can successively perform one or both of (i) segment-level-truncation operations on individual segment graphics and (ii) summary-level-truncation operations on the graphical route summary. The system can further present a truncated graphical route summary in the graphical user interface based on one or both the segment-level-truncation operations and the summary-level-truncation operations.

Truncating graphical route summaries of transit routes for display via graphical user interfaces

Methods and systems for detecting when users deviate from a provided transportation route and for correcting the transportation route in response to such user deviations is presented. In one embodiment, a method is provided including detecting a changed condition for a transportation route between a first location and a second location. The transportation route may include multiple transportation segments. A first transportation segment designating a first modality may be identified, wherein the changed condition decreases a likelihood that vehicles associated with the first modality will be available to service the first transportation segment. In response, a second transportation segment designating a second modality different from the first modality is generated. The first transportation segment is then replaced with the second transportation segment in the transportation route.

Multi-modal transportation system

The disclosed computer-implemented method may include dynamically selecting transportation options to present to a transportation requestor device based on current transportation network conditions and transportation requestor device history. In some embodiments, transportation network may have many different ways of arranging a transportation requestor's trip, such as private rides, shared rides, immediate rides, and delayed rides. In some examples, the requestor's choice of transportation option may have an impact on the transportation network. In anticipation of or in response to a transportation request, the method may determine which transportation options will better benefit the transportation network and determine which transportation options to display to the requestor and/or the prominence with which the transportation products are displayed.
