The present invention relates to an antimicrobial composition, more particularly to a method and a composition to prevent or treat malodour, especially body malodor. This is achieved through a composition that comprises alkyl substituted dihydroxy benzene in combination with thymol or terpineol. The composition is also seen to have anti-acne benefits.

Antimicrobial composition for tackling malodour

The present invention is in the field of antimicrobial compositions, e.g. for personal care. In particular, the invention relates to antimicrobial compositions for oral care, such as toothpastes, comprising antimicrobial particles and a nonionic triblock copolymer. Accordingly, the present invention relates to antimicrobial compositions comprising a modified clay particle, the particle comprising an antimicrobial compound and a clay particle, and at least one a nonionic triblock copolymer. The invention further relates to the uses and methods of the antimicrobial compositions of the invention.

Antimicrobial compositions comprising modified clay and nonionic triblock copolymers

The present invention relates to an antimicrobial composition and more particularly to an antimicrobial composition at the pH of skin. The present invention provides an antimicrobial composition comprising: a. 0.5 to 20% by weight of a solvent comprising an alkyl glycol ether, b. 0.1 to 20% by weight of a carboxylic acid selected from an aromatic carboxylic acid having pKa greater than 4 or an aliphatic carboxylic acid having pKa greater than 4.5 or mixtures thereof c. 1 to 80% by weight of an anionic surfactant.

Antimicrobial composition

The present invention relates to an antimicrobial composition at the pH of the skin. Particularly, it relates to an antimicrobial composition comprising water soluble vinyl polymer, a carboxylic acid having pKa greater than 4.5; and an anionic surfactant, wherein the composition has pH in the range 4.5 to 6.5. The compositions provides synergistic antimicrobial effect in relatively shorter contact time. The invention further relates to a method of disinfecting a surface using the composition.

Antimicrobial composition comprising a fatty acid/soap/polyvinyl alcohol mixture

The present invention relates to an antimicrobial cleansing composition and a method of cleaning or disinfecting a surface. The invention more particularly relates to an antimicrobial cleansing composition that provides antimicrobial efficacy in cleaning applications having relatively short contact times. An object of the present invention is to provide an antimicrobial cleansing composition that exhibits biocidal activity in relatively short contact times of 1 minute to 10 seconds. Another object of the present invention is to provide an antimicrobial cleansing composition which exhibits antimicrobial activity at very low concentration of silver compound. A further object of the present invention is to provide an antimicrobial cleansing composition which has consumer-acceptable aesthetic properties. A still further object of the present invention is to provide an antimicrobial composition that is highly efficacious against a broad spectrum of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. We have determined that antibacterial activity in relatively short contact times against gram positive and gram negative microorganisms in a soap based cleansing composition having silver compound enhances considerably in presence of a further salt of carboxylic acid. It has been additionally found that the antibacterial activity is enhanced even at very low concentrations of silver compound.

Antimicrobial cleansing composition

The invention relates to an antimicrobial particle and to a composition for use in personal or home care products comprising the same. The invention also relates to a process for preparing the antimicrobial particle. The antimicrobial particle comprises thymol and terpineol incorporated in a cage-forming inorganic silicate or aluminosilicate particle which is coated with a coating material selected from a water soluble alkali or alkaline earth metal salt.

Antimicrobial particle and compositions thereof

The invention relates to a liquid personal cleaning composition. The present inventors have found that inclusion selected di or tricarboxylic acid or a salt thereof, when combined with thymol or terpineol provide synergistic antimicrobial action in a rapid fashion and such efficacy is very low concentrations of thymol and/or terpineol.

The present invention relates to an oral care composition and a method of disinfecting the oral cavity. So far synthetic material (e.g. Triclosan) has been used which is believed by many consumers to be harsh on them. Consumers, more and more prefer using products that contain natural materials. Further, in many countries, culturally or otherwise, people are reluctant to using alcohol in their mouthwashes. The present inventors have been working on solving these problems and have come up with an oral care composition which includes natural materials that are found to interact synergistically with certain metal salts in killing, a bacterium responsible for tooth decay.

Oral care composition

The invention is in the field of skin hygiene, especially hand hygiene and/or hand soap compositions. It remains to be desired to prepare skin hygiene compositions having a high anti-microbial effect, even with a low dosage of anti-microbial essential oils. It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a skin hygiene composition, having good anti-microbial properties, at low levels of essential oil. Surprisingly it has been found that composition comprising a low amount of at least two essential oils and a polymer provides improved hygiene efficacy.
