Fitness monitoring methods, systems, and program products are disclosed. In an embodiment, a computer-implemented method for providing a new workout for an athlete utilizing a fitness monitoring service includes the steps of granting an athlete access to an account of the fitness monitoring service, maintaining a schedule of workouts for the athlete to complete in association with the account, receiving the new workout from a coach, adding the new workout to the schedule of workouts, and exchanging information related to the new workout with a portable fitness monitoring device.

Fitness monitoring methods, systems, and program products, and applications thereof

Program products, methods, and systems for providing fitness monitoring are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method for scheduling training activities for a user of a fitness monitoring device includes: defining a cardio training plan including one or more cardio training activities and defining a non-cardio training plan including one or more non-cardio training activities; scheduling execution of the non-cardio training plan and the cardio training plan in a training calendar; and providing a graphical display of the training calendar including the cardio training plan and the non-cardio training plan to the user of the fitness monitoring device.

In an embodiment, a method for generating a workout includes the steps of receiving user input indicating features of a desired workout, generating a workout, wherein the workout comprises a plurality of intervals, and wherein a first interval comprises an interval intensity and an interval duration, and initiating a graphical display that conveys the number of intervals making up the workout and the interval intensity and the interval duration of the first interval.

Methods and program products for providing heart rate information are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method for providing heart rate information about a user includes the steps of defining a plurality of heart rate zones as ranges of percentages of a maximum heart rate of the user, determining upper and lower limits for said heart rate zones based on the maximum heart rate of the user, associating a color with each of said heart rate zones, receiving heart rate information from the user, and initiating a graphical display in response to receiving heart rate information from the user, wherein a color of a portion of the graphical display corresponds with the color associated with one of said heart rate zones.

Program products, methods, and systems for providing fitness monitoring services are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method for providing heart rate information to a user of a portable fitness monitoring service includes: (a) defining a plurality of heart rate zones as ranges of percentages of a maximum heart rate; (b) associating a color with each of said heart rate zones; (c) receiving heart rate information from the user; and (d) providing a graphical display of the heart rate information, wherein a color of a portion of the graphical display corresponds with the color associated with one of said heart rate zones, wherein steps (a)-(d) are executed using at least one processor.
