A human machine interface (HMI) system and method of operating. The system includes capacitive measurement circuitry coupled to one or more capacitive touch elements, and piezoelectric measurement circuit including interface circuitry coupled to one or more piezoelectric touch elements. The capacitive measurement circuitry includes a gain stage configured to amplify a signal corresponding to a capacitance at the one or more capacitor input terminals by a gain level for communication to processing circuitry. Gain control circuitry is configured to increase the gain level of the gain stage of the capacitive measurement circuitry responsive to the piezoelectric measurement circuitry receiving a user input from at least one of the piezoelectric touch elements. Implementations that further include piezoelectric drive circuitry for haptic output and clearing debris from the keypad are also disclosed.

Combined capacitive and piezoelectric sensing in a human machine interface

Systems and methods are disclosed for an integrated circuit (IC) comprising an oscillator, an on-off-keying modulator configured to modulate input data coupled to the oscillator, a serial communications transmitter coupled to the on-off-keying modulator, a serial communications receiver coupled to the serial communications transmitter by a set of cables, and an envelope detector coupled to the serial communications receiver. In the IC, power and data are simultaneously delivered across the same set of cables from the serial communications transmitter to the serial communications receiver.

Power delivery and data communication over a single pair of cables

Two CAN bus transceivers utilized in a single integrated circuit package with the CAN bus connections between the two transceivers being inverted. Thus, one transceiver is connected to the CAN bus high and low lines while the other transceiver is connected to the CAN bus low and high lines. Both transceivers power up in a standby condition and each transceiver is monitoring for wake up signals on the CAN bus. The transceiver that is correctly connected to the CAN bus detects wake up signals. When the wake up signals are detected at that transceiver, that transceiver is brought to full operating state and the other transceiver is placed in a full standby condition. Additional input resistance is provided with each transceiver to maintain the proper input resistance for the integrated circuit.

Control area network (CAN) transceivers with automatic polarity detection

Circuits for full duplex bi-directional differential communication via a single conductor pair. A transceiver for full duplex differential communication over a single conductor pair includes a differential driver, a polarity neutral receiver, and receiver output circuitry. The differential driver is to drive the conductor pair. The polarity neutral receiver is to detect signals present on the conductor pair. The receiver output circuitry is configured to determine a logic value to be output by the transceiver as received via the conductor pair based on an output of the polarity neutral receiver and a logic value driven onto the conductor pair by the differential driver.

Bi-directional, full-duplex differential communication over a single conductor pair

One example includes network physical link (PHY) switch system. The system includes a multiplexer to output a first of a plurality of data streams that are input to a PHY device in response to a first state of a selection signal. The system also includes a data detector that monitors the first data stream and provides a trigger signal in response to a predetermined condition associated with the first data stream. The system further includes a switching controller that provides the selection signal, and in response to a switching command signal indicating a command to switch from the first data stream to the second data stream, monitors the data detector for the trigger signal and changes the selection signal from the first state to a second state in response to receiving the trigger signal to switch to the second data stream of the plurality of data streams.
