Embodiments of the disclosure relate to the aligning of a melting beam source in an additive manufacturing (AM) system. Methods of the disclosure may include forming a first test article and a second test article of different shapes on a build plate. The method further includes measuring a vertical scale, vertical alignment, horizontal scale, and an alignment of the melting beam source using the first and second test articles. The method includes determining whether one of the vertical scale, the vertical alignment, the horizontal scale, or the horizontal alignment of the melting beam source is not within a corresponding tolerance of a target specification. If at least one of the vertical scale, the vertical alignment, the horizontal scale, or the horizontal alignment is within the corresponding tolerance, the method includes adjusting the melting beam source of the AM system to align the melting beam source to yield the target specification.

Aligning of melting beam source in additive manufacturing system

An additive manufacturing system includes an additive manufacturing unit that includes a housing for additively processing a powder material along a build direction into a build assembly. The additive manufacturing system further includes a rotator assembly for rotating the build assembly within the housing. The rotator assembly includes a frame including a first frame arm and a second frame arm and a carriage rotatably coupled to the first frame arm and to the second frame arm. The carriage includes at least one coupling mechanism for removably coupling the carriage to the build assembly. The rotator assembly further includes a drive assembly coupled to the carriage for selectively rotating the carriage about a rotational axis that is generally perpendicular to the build direction.

A system for inspecting, cleaning, and/or repairing one or more blades attached to a rotor of a gas turbine engine. The system includes a track disposed adjacent to the rotor, a mechanical arm moveable along the track, a number of tools attachable to the mechanical arm, and a controller configured to control a position of at least one of the tools that is attached to the mechanical arm about the one or more blades.

Various embodiments include an apparatus for servicing a turbomachine, along with a related servicing method. In some cases, the apparatus includes: a system for servicing a turbomachine casing having adjacent segments joined with a set of threaded fasteners, the system including: a threaded fastener tensioning device sized to fit over ends of a threaded fastener in the set of threaded fasteners, the threaded fastener tensioning device including: a retention component for retaining a first end of the threaded fastener; and a tensioner for tensioning or de-tensioning a second end of the threaded fastener; and a mounting system coupled with the threaded fastener tensioning device, the mounting system for retaining the threaded fastener tensioning device proximate the adjacent segments of the turbomachine casing.

Turbomachine service apparatus and related method

A fixture for restraining a wheel of a turbomachine is provided. The fixture includes a dovetail section adapted for insertion into a dovetail slot of the wheel, and a mounting section located adjacent to, or formed integrally with, the dovetail section. At least one coupling ring is attached to a top of the mounting section. The at least one coupling ring is adapted to be secured to a stationary anchoring point via a restraint.

Fixture for restraining a turbine wheel

A fixture for restraining a wheel of a turbomachine has a dovetail section adapted for insertion into a dovetail slot of the wheel. A mounting section is located adjacent to, or formed integrally with, the dovetail section. At least one coupling ring is attached to the mounting section, and the coupling ring is adapted to be secured to a stationary anchoring point via a restraint. The stationary anchoring point includes at least one counterbore assembly having a coupling ring attached thereto. The counterbore assembly is adapted to be secured to a stationary structure. The stationary structure may be a shell, a flange or a casing of the turbomachine.
