A method calibrates a battery allowing calibration data linked to its state of health to be memorized. The method includes determining at least one characteristic state of the battery, between fully charged and fully discharged, by detecting a peak in variation of the derivative of its open-circuit voltage while charging or discharging the battery, or at least one characteristic state when it is fully charged or fully discharged, or defined by crossing of a voltage, or current, threshold in a constant current, or constant voltage, phase while charging or discharging the battery. The method also includes defining a reference state of the battery based on this characteristic state and measuring the open-circuit voltages of the battery in the reference state for multiple different states of health and memorizing these calibration data including at least some pairs of actual state of health/open-circuit voltage values in an electronic memory.

Method for estimating the state of health of a battery

A method for estimating the charge of a battery comprises: acquiring at least one time series of measurements of voltage across the terminals of the battery, and at least one other time series of measurements of another physical parameter of the battery or of its environment; determining an operating regime of the battery; choosing a regression model from among a predefined set of such models; and estimating the charge of the battery by applying the regression model to the time series of voltage measurements and to at least one other time series of measurements. A device for estimating the charge of a battery and a device for training regression models of the charge of a battery, adapted for the implementation of the method are provided. A system for estimating the charge of a battery comprising a device for estimating the charge and a device for training regression models is provided.

Method, device and system for estimating the charge state of a battery

An accumulator battery system has stages, a power connection, a controller, and circuits. The stages are series-connected. Each has an electrochemical accumulator and a switch. A power connection connects a load to the stages. Each the circuit is associated with a stage. Each circuit generates a voltage variation at terminals of its associated stage, and applies, to a switch of the associated stage, a binary sequence at a frequency. The sequence differs from those of other stages, thus allowing distinguishing between stages based on the sequence. The controller, which is connected to the stages by the power connection, measures a voltage variation across terminals of the stage in response to application of the binary sequence to the stage, identifies a stage from which the variation originates by searching for its associate sequence, and determines, from the variation, an impedance of the identified stage for that frequency.
