Equipment for manufacturing a metal strip coated by a process that includes vacuum-depositing a layer of an oxidizable metal or an oxidizable metal alloy on a metal strip precoated with zinc or with a zinc alloy, then coiling the coated metal strip, then oxidizing a surface of the metal strip coated with the oxidizable metal or oxidizable metal alloy and treating the oxidized wound coil with a static diffusion treatment to obtain a strip having a coating that includes, in an upper portion, a layer of an alloy formed by diffusion of the oxidizable metal or the oxidizable metal alloy in all or part of the zinc or zinc alloy layer. The equipment includes a device for galvanizing the metal strip, a vacuum deposition coating device, and a static heat treatment device operating in a controlled atmosphere.

Equipment for coating a metal strip

An installation for hot dip coating a metal strip is provided. The installation includes a device for moving the metal strip along a path, a pot for containing a melt bath and a wiping system including at least two nozzles placed on either side of the path downstream the pot. The wiping system has a box with a lower confinement part confining an atmosphere around the metal strip upstream of said nozzles and an upper confinement part confining the atmosphere around the metal strip downstream of the nozzles, first moving means for vertically moving the lower confinement part with respect to the pot and second moving means for vertically moving the upper confinement part with respect to both the pot and the lower confinement part. The nozzles are vertically movable relative to the pot.

Installation for hot dip coating a metal strip comprising an adjustable confinement box

A method deposits a metal alloy coating on a substrate using a vacuum deposition facility. The facility is equipped with a vapour generator/mixer comprising a vacuum chamber enclosure provided with an inlet and an outlet for the substrate. The enclosure includes a vapour deposition head and an ejector is provided to create a jet of metal alloy vapour of sonic velocity towards the surface of the substrate and perpendicular thereto. The ejector is in sealed communication with a separate mixer device, which is itself connected upstream to at least two crucibles respectively, these containing different metals in liquid form, each crucible being connected to the mixer by its own pipe. The method uses a series of partitions to create alternating layers of metal vapours. The metal vapours enter the mixer inlet of the mixer at a velocity from 5 to 50 m/s to provide better homogeneity.

Industrial vapor generator for depositing an alloy coating on a metal strip

The present invention provides an aqueous treatment solution containing sulfate ions SOin a concentration greater than or equal to 0.01 mol/l, to treat sheet metal including a steel substrate coated on at least one face with a coating including at least zinc and magnesium to reduce blackening or tarnishing of the sheet metal during storage. The present invention also provides a sheet metal treated with a solution of this type.

Solution for reducing the blackening or tarnishing of a metal sheet and metal sheet

The present invention provides a metal sheet including a steel substrate coated on at least one face with a coating including from 0.1 to 20% by weight of magnesium, optionally from 0.1 to 20% by weight of aluminum, the balance being zinc, potential impurities linked to the method and optionally one or more additional elements selected from among Si, Sb, Pb, Ti, Ca, Mn, Sn, La, Ce, Cr, Ni, Zr and Bi, the content by weight of each additional element being less than 0.3%. The coating itself is covered by a layer, based on zinc hydroxychloride, having a chlorine coating weight of at least 1 mg/m. The layer does not include hydrozincite or mixed hydroxycarbonates of zinc and aluminum or water-soluble compounds of sodium or potassium. The present invention also provides a method to obtain the metal sheet.

Metal sheet treatment method for reducing blackening or tarnishing during the storage thereof and metal sheet treated with this method

The invention relates to a process for coating a metal strip, in which a layer of an oxidizable metal or an oxidizable metal alloy or a metal oxide is vacuum-deposited on a metal strip precoated with zinc or with a zinc alloy, the coated metal strip is then coiled, and the wound coil undergoes a static diffusion treatment so as to obtain a strip having a coating that comprises, in the upper portion, a layer of an alloy formed by diffusion of the oxidizable metal or the oxidizable metal alloy in all or part of the zinc or zinc alloy layer, and also to equipment for implementing the process.

Method for coating a metal strip and equipment for implementing said method

A steel sheet is provided. The steel sheet includes a multilayer coating including at least one zinc-based layer being 0.1% to 20% magnesium by weight which is covered by a fine temporary protective layer of 5 to 100 nm. The fine temporary protective layer is composed of metal or metal oxide selected from the group consisting of aluminum, chromium, aluminum oxides AlOx, with x being strictly between 0.01 and 1.5 and chromium oxides CrOy, with y being strictly between 0.01 and 1.5. The at least one zinc-based layer is not alloyed with the temporary protective layer. Manufacturing methods for a sheet and part are also provided.
