Disclosed is a system for detecting approach and/or contact of a user and Ultra High Frequency communication with a portable user apparatus, intended to be embedded on board an automotive vehicle, the system including: a device for detecting approach and/or contact, including a sensor for detecting approach and/or contact and an electronic control unit; a conducting metal surface, suitable for the conduction of electric charges; and a communication device, including an Ultra High Frequency antenna emitting an electromagnetic field at an Ultra High Frequency wavelength, and a management unit for managing the emission and reception of data of the antenna. The conducting metal surface takes the form of a continuous path including a plurality of meanders spread over a length at least equal to:=&#x3bb;/6wherein L is a total length of the meanders, and &#x3bb; is a wavelength of the Ultra High Frequency antenna.

A device includes a capacitive touch sensor having a copper trace defining a capacitive electrode. The copper trace has a saw-tooth configuration. An ultra-high frequency (UHF) antenna is provided. A metal ground plane integrates the capacitive touch sensor with the UHF antenna. The saw-tooth copper trace aids in reducing interference with the UHF antenna.

A method for manufacturing a sensor having an ultra-high-frequency antenna printed on a receiving area on a first face of a printed circuit board. The first face of the board is inserted into a first housing portion with a seal and a compression element, the seal surrounding the receiving area while a first space remains free in the portion. A second face of the board is inserted into a second housing portion and the portions are pressed together, a second space remaining free. Then, polyurethane is injected into the first and second spaces, the seal preventing the polyurethane from penetrating into the receiving area.

A method for activating a function of a vehicle from a portable access device borne by a user. The method includes measurement of the received signal strength of signals exchanged between the access device and transceiver modules installed in the vehicle, detection of human presence, determination of the position of the access device from the signal strength measurements, and activation of a function of the vehicle when human presence has been detected and the position of the authenticated access device is determined as being within a predetermined proximity zone around the vehicle.
