In the present invention, a system and method for selection of an optimal catheter for use in a medical procedure relative to the anatomy of a patient includes the steps of providing a system including a scanning device capable of obtaining image data on a ROI within the anatomy of a patient and reconstructing a 3D image of the ROI from the image data, a display capable of illustrating the 3D image and a 3D catheter model, and a CPU operably connected to the scanning device and the display and operable to analyze the 3D image in comparison with the 3D catheter model, obtaining image data of the ROI of the patient, reconstructing a 3D image of the ROI from the image data and comparing the 3D catheter model with the 3D image of the ROI to determine the catheter with the optimal configuration for use in the procedure.

System and method for optimal catheter selection for individual patient anatomy

A method of processing images for interventional imaging, wherein a region of interest is visualized, is provided. The method comprises acquiring a series of 2D images of the region of interest in a patient during at least one respiratory phase, acquiring an electrocardiographic signal which is synchronized with the acquisition of the series of 2D images, processing the electrocardiographic signal to estimate at least one deformation phase of the region of interest induced by the patient's respiratory movement, and registering the different successive 2D images in relation to the estimated deformation phase.

A method for enhancing the visualization of a plurality of objects within an imaged subject. The method includes acquiring a plurality of images of the plurality of objects disposed in the imaged subject and supported by a plurality of guide wires; generating a complex deformation field based at least in part on a plurality of landmarks disposed in the plurality of images; and generating a composite image based at least in part on the complex deformation field. The complex deformation field models deformation induced on the plurality of objects by at least two or more guide wires of the plurality.

A method and system for translating two dimensional (2D) mapping into a three dimensional (3D) derived model. The method and system receive electrical measurements from a plurality of electrodes of the basket catheter of an anatomical region of interest. The method and system receive a 2D map grid based on the electrodes and corresponding spines of the basket catheter. The 2D map grid includes a location of at least one focus of an arrhythmic rotor. Further, the method and system generate a 3D derived model of the anatomical region of interest that includes the basket catheter and display a 3D location of the focus the arrhythmic rotor on the 3D derived model based on the 2D map grid.
