A method of a heat treating a cold rolled steel strip includes the steps of soaking a cold rolled steel strip above (Ac3−20) for a certain soaking duration thereby obtaining a cold rolled steel strip having an austenitic microstructure; cooling the soaked steel strip to below Ms; heating and heat treating the cooled strip in the temperature range of Bs-Ms; and cooling the heat treated strip to ambient temperature.

A steel strip, sheet or blank used for painted parts, wherein the steel strip, sheet or blank is optionally metallic coated. According to the invention, the steel has grains with an essentially equi-axed median grain size smaller than 11.0 micrometer, resulting in a difference in Waviness &#x394;Wsa&#x2264;0.12 &#x3bc;m between the surface before and after the forming of the strip, sheet or blank. The invention also relates to a method for producing such a steel strip.

A hot-rolled high-strength steel strip or sheet with excellent roll-forming characteristics and excellent stretch-flange formability suitable for automotive chassis part or the like and, more particularly, to a high-strength steel strip or sheet with tensile strength of 780 MPa or higher, or preferably 950 MPa or higher, with an excellent combination of total elongation, stretch-flange formability and fatigue resistance and to a method of manufacturing the steel strip or sheet, and to the use of the strip or sheet in a part.
