A fuel injection apparatus for internal combustion engines, which includes a pump piston guided in a cylinder bore driven to reciprocate axially by a cam drive. With a face end, the pump piston defines a pump work chamber, which communicates with an injection valve via a pressure conduit and which is supplied with fuel and relieved via a fuel line. Supply onset and supply end are controllable via a feed pump and a magnet valve are disposed in the fuel line, which communicates with a fuel supply vessel (33) to control supply onset and end of supply. In order to relieve a pressure of the high-pressure chambers, especially at high engine speeds, a fuel tapping device, which is controllable as a function of pressure is connected to a relief line that branches off from the fuel line.

A system for controlling an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, and, in particular, a self-ignitible internal combustion engine, that produces a speed signal, as well as a signal associated with the driver of the motor vehicle, such as a gas pedal position signal. A control unit supplies an actuating signal to a power-regulating controlling unit that controls the fuel injection quantity for the engine under both normal and emergency conditions. The actuating signal is based on the signal associated with the driver and inversely proportional to the speed signal.

It is possible in a simple manner, especially in distributor injection pumps, to attain quiet combustion in the idling range of a Diesel engine, without modifying the basic construction of the fuel injection pump by shifting the injection pumping to the last portion of the stroke of the cam driving the pump piston of the fuel injection pump for idling, by means of an injection onset adjusting device, in combination with a determination of injection duration via the closing phase of an electrically controlled valve that relieves the pump work chamber.

Method and apparatus for controlling a high-pressure fuel pumping time

The invention relates to a device for adjusting the supply onset of a fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines, by means of which the injection onset is adjustable in several stages. A roller tappet provided with a hydraulic tappet chamber for prestroke variation is fixable in defined positions via a control fluid. To this end the roller tappet has at least one first control bore and one second control bore communicating with the tappet chamber and can be made to communicate with openings in a housing bore that receives the tappet. The control bores are provided at differing heights, and/or with differing diameters or are offset from one another, at least one of the these control bores is closable by means of a control piston of the hydraulic tappet, and the control bores are openable as a function of an engine parameter via hydraulic lines.

Device for adjusting the onset of supply for a fuel injection pump

The invention is based on a fuel injection pump in which an adjuster, which may also be an injection onset adjuster, is actuated via an adjusting mechanism, and the adjusting mechanism has an adjusting piston, which is displaceable in a cylinder and is adjustable counter to a restoring force by a pressure fluid. The delivery of pressure fluid to the adjusting piston is controlled via electric valves, making a graduated, geometrically defined adjustment of the adjusting piston possible, but no feedback sensors for the actual status of the adjusting mechanism at a given time are required.

A fuel injection arrangement for internal combustion engines, particularly for diesel engines, is indicated, in which the fuel injection is divided into an advance injection and a main injection for the purpose of noise reduction. An advance injection unit (27) is provided for the purpose of proportioning the advance injection quantity and a fuel injection pump of a conventional construction is provided for proportioning the main injection quantity. For an optimal design of the advance injection quantity with respect to noise reduction without influencing the main injection quantity, the advance injection unit (27) comprises a high-pressure storage (28), which is compressed to injection pressure, and at least one solenoid valve (30), which is controlled with respect to time. The advance and main injections are preferably effected via separate nozzle cross sections (21, 22).

A fuel injection pump of the distributor type in which a pump piston is driven to reciprocate and rotate simultaneously, thereby acting as a distributer. For fuel injection quantity regulation, an annular slide that is displaceable on a pump piston is provided, by way of which the pump work chamber can be relieved. To attain a low injection rate in the idling range, in addition to a first outlet opening, controlled by an upper edge of the annular slide, second outlet openings axially offset from the first are provided, for a relief conduit of the pump work chamber which cooperate with a radial control opening, which communicates with the pump suction chamber and is disposed in the wall of the annular slide. In the opening direction of this control opening, a groove provided with a throttle is provided, by way of which during idling operation, prior to the opening of the first relief opening, fuel can flow out of the pump piston in order to decrease the pumping rate of the pump piston. For higher load ranges, the control opening is moved out of the operative range of the groove which is effected by rotating the annular slide or interrupting the communication of the control opening with the suction chamber.

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is proposed having a hydraulic instant-of-injection adjuster, which is exposed to an rpm-dependent pressure formed with the aid of a pressure control valve; the control of the pressure control valve is effected by means of variations of the control pressure acting upon it. This control is accomplished with the aid of at least one electrically controlled valve which is controlled by a control device in accordance with operating parameters. In this cost-efficient manner, the correct adjustment of the instant of injection can be established very precisely over the entire operating range of the engine, including the warm-up phase, at varying operating conditions.

Fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines

A fuel injection pump is proposed in which the fuel supply quantity supplied to the injection location is determined by metering the quantity of fuel aspirated. The metering of the aspirated quantities is effected with the aid of at least one magnetic valve which is located in the fuel supply line leading to the fuel injection pump and with the aid of a control edge moved in synchronism with the rotation of the fuel injection pump, which controls the communication between the fuel supply line and the pump work chamber in series with the magnetic valve. The opening times of the two control locations are each longer than the maximum metering time, the overlapping time of the two control times determining the opening time of the communication between the fuel supply and the pump work chamber. The metering time is thus determined on the one hand by the switching time of the control edge moved in synchronism with the rpm and the other by a switching process of the magnetic valve.

Fuel injection pump

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is described, which for controlling fuel quantity is provided with control unit that controls an electric final control element, which in turn actuates the regulating member that determines the fuel injection quantity per pump piston supply stroke. The supply of fuel to the pump work chamber is effected from a fuel supply chamber, which is kept at a controlled pressure by a fuel feed pump. To limit the maximum speed of the engine supplied by the fuel injection pump in the event of failure of the control unit, a valve is provided in the intake line of the fuel feed pump. Using this valve, the flow cross section of the intake line can be varied or closed. By means of the modification of the fuel pressure in the fuel supply chamber effected thereby, a control of the fuel injection quantity that is not dependent on the position of the quantity-determining member is attained.

A fuel injection pump including a control device is proposed in which a control lever which determines the fuel injection quantity is placed at an adjustable spring which is not supported by the main power source of a governor lever. The control lever is subjected to lesser forces provided by the intended auxiliary springs, starting springs or idling springs.

Controlling device for a fuel-quantity adjusting member of a fuel

The magnetic valve for fluid control in a fuel injection nozzle includes a valve housing having a magnetic coil mounted on a core of ferromagnetic material and an armature, which is connected to a valve closing element cooperating with a fixed valve seat. After the excitation of the magnetic coil is interrupted, the valve closing element is moved toward a stop tappet by the force of a restoring spring and by the fluid pressure engaging the valve closing element. The stop tappet is supported such that it is displaceable in the opening direction of the valve closing element, counter to the force of a second spring. As a result, a large flow cross section is available for the fluid between the valve seat and a closing body of the valve closing element and a rapid pressure drop is made possible. If the fluid pressure drops below a predetermined level, then the additional spring displaces the stop tappet and hence the armature and the valve closing element into a position in which the flow cross section and the air gaps provided at the armature are decreased, thereby assuring rapid closure of the magnetic valve when the magnetic coil is excited.
