A single shaft combined cycle power plant includes a shaft on which is sequentially located, a gas turbine, a medium pressure steam turbine, a low pressure steam turbine, a generator, and a high pressure steam turbine, wherein the gas turbine and the high pressure steam turbine are at opposite ends of the shaft.

The invention relates to a steam Rankine cycle plant and a method for operating thereof. The plant comprises a higher-pressure steam turbine with an outlet and a reheater fluidly connected to the higher-pressure steam turbine. In addition, the plant has a lower-pressure steam turbine with an inlet that is fluidly connected to the reheater. The plant also has a bypass that is fluidly connecting the outlet and the inlet so as to bypass the reheater.

Steam Rankine plant

A solar thermal power system can include a solar receiver steam generator, a thermal energy storage arrangement utilizing a thermal energy storage fluid, and a multistage steam turbine for driving an electrical generator to produce electrical power. The solar thermal power system has a first operating mode in which steam is generated by the solar receiver steam generator and is supplied both to the thermal energy storage arrangement and to a high pressure turbine inlet of the multistage steam turbine. In a second operating mode, steam is generated by recovering stored thermal energy from the thermal energy storage fluid of the thermal energy storage arrangement for injection into the multistage steam turbine at a location or turbine stage downstream of the high pressure turbine inlet.

Solar thermal power system

A steam turbine is provided having a relief groove which is arranged in the region of the equalizing piston and extends in the circumferential direction of the rotor. The relief groove, with regard to an inlet passage, is arranged in the axial upstream direction so that it is arranged on the rotor outside a region in which the steam flow enters the bladed flow path via the inlet passage. The relief groove, with regard to the first blade row, is arranged in a region in which the greatest thermal stresses can arise in the rotor. As an option, the relief groove has a cover for reducing vortex flows, and also devices for reducing heating of the groove or devices for active cooling. The steam turbine allows an increased number of risk-free running up and running down operations of the steam turbine with minimum detriment to the turbine performance.

A single shaft steam turbine plant is disclosed with a first and a second low pressure steam turbine located at either end of the shaft. A generator and at least one high-pressure steam turbine are located on the shaft between low pressure steam turbines.

Steam turbine plant

A steam turbine (), especially for the high-pressure range or intermediate-pressure range, includes a rotor () which is rotatably mounted around an axis and concentrically enclosed at a distance by an inner casing (), wherein between the rotor () and the inner casing () a flow passage () is formed, which on the inlet side is axially delimited by a balance piston () which is arranged on the rotor (), and into which flow passage rotor blades () and stator blades (), alternating in the direction of flow, radially project, and wherein, at the entry of the flow passage (), an inlet scroll (), through which steam is guided from the outside radially inwards and deflected in a deflection region () in the axial direction to the inlet of the flow passage (), is formed on the inner casing (). A reduction of the thermal loads and stresses is achieved by a stress-relief slot () in the deflection region () upstream of the first rotor blade row () for reducing stresses in the fastening slot () of the first rotor blade row () in the rotor (), and by a heat shield () arranged in the region of the stress-relief slot () for protecting the rotor () against high temperatures.

Steam turbine

A method is disclosed for inspecting a weld joining a first rotor disk made of nickel alloy and having an inner surface and an outer surface concentric with the rotor's longitudinal axis to a second rotor disk having an inner surface and an outer surface concentric with the rotor's longitudinal axis. The weld made of nickel alloy fills a radial gap between the rotor disks, and has a dissimilar microstructure to either of the rotor disks. The method includes forming at least one slot in the first rotor disk extending through either the inner surface or the outer surface of the first rotor disk terminating in the first rotor disk; and passing an inspection signal from the first slot to the weld to inspect the weld for defects.

A turbine installation includes a main group and an auxiliary group, wherein the main group has at least one first turbine and a generator connected for drive purposes to the first turbine. The auxiliary group includes at least one second turbine and is connectable to the main group via a coupling. The turbine installation furthermore includes a first braking device configured to apply a braking torque to the auxiliary group when the auxiliary group is decoupled from the main group.

A steam power plant with retrofit kit has a steam generator () with superheater, a steam turbine set including condensation installations (), connecting pipelines, auxiliary devices and a generator (). The steam power plant () is distinguished by the fact that the retrofit kit includes a retrofit turbine module () which is designed for elevated temperature and for unchanged or modified pressure and is connected upstream of the existing steam turbine set or is exchanged for the high-pressure turbine of the latter. Furthermore, a method for retrofitting an existing steam power plant includes the following steps: connecting a retrofit turbine module () for high operating temperatures and unchanged or modified operating pressure upstream of the existing turbine set or exchanging the existing high-pressure turbine for the retrofit turbine module (); providing a steam generator () and/or superheater () for high live steam temperature. This improves the efficiency and/or the service life of an existing steam power plant. The retention of as many original parts of the steam power plant as possible leads to an inexpensive solution for increasing output. Moreover, the general infrastructure can be maintained to the extent that to do so is economical and environmentally compatible.

Steam power plant provided with a retrofit kit and method for retrofitting a steam power plant

In a method of manufacturing a plurality of steam turbines for use in various applications which differ in the respective thermodynamic parameters such as, for example, cooling-water temperature, ambient temperature, given boiler data, process-steam requirement, etc., the steam turbines in each case having at least one high-pressure part with first blading and a control-wheel stage for part-load operation, a simplification and cost saving is achieved owing to the fact that standard blading, which is identical for all the steam turbines, is used as first blading, and in that the adaption of the individual steam turbine to the thermodynamic parameters of the respective application is carried out by appropriate design or variation of the control-wheel stage.
