An apparatus () for extracorporeal blood treatment comprises a filtration unit () having a primary chamber () and a secondary chamber () separated by a semi-permeable membrane (), a blood circuit () comprising at least a blood withdrawal line () and a blood return line (), a fluid circuit () comprising a fluid supply source () for providing a sterile fluid, and at least one gas inlet () to allow gas to enter into the blood circuit (). The apparatus further comprises a control unit configured to perform a blood restitution procedure towards the patient for ending an extracorporeal blood treatment and before disconnecting the patient, said blood restitution procedure comprising the steps of infusing a predetermined amount of sterile fluid from the supply source () into the blood circuit () and causing a predetermined amount of gas to enter into the blood circuit () from the gas inlet ().

Method and a device for monitoring a state of a blood line in a machine for extracorporeal blood treatment

A method and apparatus for priming an extracorporeal blood circuit, in which the patient end of an arterial line () is connected to a first discharge port (), and the patient end of a venous line () is connected to a second discharge port (). The two discharge ports are connected to a used dialysate line which connects a dialyzer () to a drain. The arterial and venous lines are filled with a priming fluid, while the air contained in the arterial and venous lines is evacuated partly through the first discharge port and partly through the second discharge port. Two check valves () prevent flow from the used dialysate line towards the two discharge ports. The invention reduces the risk of errors on the part of an operator readying the priming configuration, as well as the risk of contamination of the extracorporeal circuit during the priming phase.

An apparatus () for extracorporeal blood treatment comprising a blood treatment device () having a semipermeable membrane () which separates a blood chamber () from a fluid chamber (). The aim is to prevent risks due to excessive hemoconcentration in the blood circuit between the ultrafiltration zone and the infusion zone.
