A device includes an optical resonator having four ports including a first port, a second port, a third port, and a fourth port. A first electronic circuit is configured to calculate a first information representative of a power difference between optical signals supplied by two of the four ports. A method of operating a device is also disclosed.

Device comprising a ring optical resonator

A system for detecting objects, for driver assistance equipment in motor vehicles for example, includes a transmitter for transmitting towards an object an optical signal having a signal energy. The optical signal transmitted includes at least one encoded pulse sequence with the signal energy distributed over the pulse sequence. A receiver receives an echo signal resulting from reflection of the optical signal at the object with the time delay of the echo signal is indicative of the distance to the object.

Method of detecting objects, corresponding system and apparatus

A transimpedance amplifier includes a first and a second power supply terminal for receiving a positive constant supply voltage, wherein the second power supply terminal represents a ground, and an input terminal adapted to be connected to a current source. The transimpedance amplifier further comprises a transistor comprising a control terminal and two further terminals, wherein the input terminal is connected to the control terminal of the first transistor. An inductor is connected between the first of the two further terminals of the transistor and the first power supply terminal, and a bias network is connected between the second of the two further terminals of the transistor and ground. Specifically, the transimpedance amplifier is configured such that the resistance between said first of said two further terminals of said first transistor and said first power supply terminal is small enough, such that said transimpedance amplifier operates as a differentiator.

Transimpedance amplifier, and related integrated circuit and optical receiver

An intra-board chip-to-chip optical communications system has a high bit rate and high data throughput based on the use of a silicon photonic interposer. The system includes a multi-substrate electro-optical structure for communications with CMOS and/or BiCMOS IC chips of a PCB. The structure includes a multi-chip module primary substrate mounted over the supporting PCB. The multi-chip module primary substrate implements high frequency electrical interconnections between transceiver circuit chips, mounted on the silicon photonic interposer, and the IC chips.

Multi-substrate electro-optical interconnection system

A driver circuit may include a first node, and a first circuit to generate on the first node an inverted replica of an input signal during driver switching between a first supply voltage and a first reference voltage, the inverted replica having a threshold voltage value based upon a second reference voltage greater than the first supply voltage. The driver circuit may include a cascode stage to be controlled by the second reference voltage and to be coupled between a second supply voltage and the first node, a delay circuit to generate a delayed replica of the input signal, an amplifier, and a switching network to couple the control terminal of the active load transistor to one of the first reference voltage and the first node based upon the input signal.

Integrated driver and related method

A driver circuit may include a first node (VA), and a first circuit to generate on the first node (VA) an inverted replica of an input signal (VIN) during driver switching between a first supply voltage (Vdd) and ground, the inverted replica having a threshold voltage value based upon a reference voltage (Vref) greater than the first supply voltage (Vdd). The driver circuit may include a cascode stage (M) to be controlled by the reference voltage (Vref) and to be coupled between a second supply voltage (Vdd) and the first node, a delay circuit (D) to generate a delayed replica of the input signal (VIN), an amplifier, and a switching network (M, M) to couple a control terminal of an active load transistor (M) either to one of the reference voltage (Vref) or to ground, based upon the input signal (VIN).

An electrical-optical modulator may function at high data rates and may be realized in comparably low cost silicon base technology, typically in BJT, BiCMOS or CMOS technologies. The output signal path may include a high transition frequency BJT and by using an active load constituted by a MOS driven by an inverted version of the modulating signal that drives the BJT, the falling edge of the output signal is sped up.

An integrated circuit integrator includes a first transconductance amplifier having a gain adjustable based upon a first control signal, and receives, as an input, a signal to be filtered, and generates, as an output, a corresponding amplified signal. The first transconductance amplifier includes an R-C output circuit to filter components from the amplified signal, and an output resistance being adjustable based upon a second control signal. A second transconductance amplifier is matched with the first transconductance amplifier, and has a gain adjustable based upon the first control signal, and a matched output resistance adjustable based upon the second control signal. A circuit is configured to force a reference current through the matched output resistance. An error correction circuit is coupled to the second transconductance amplifier and is configured to generate the second control signal so as to keep constant a voltage on an output of the second transconductance amplifier.

Integrated circuit of an integrator with enhanced stability and related stabilization method

A reading circuit for reading a datum stored in a storage material. In the reading circuit, a generating stage generates a read electrical quantity to be applied to the storage material, and a sensing stage is configured to generate an output electrical quantity that is indicative of a charge variation associated to the datum stored, and that occurs in the storage material due to application of the read electrical quantity; in particular, the sensing stage uses a charge-sensing amplifier electrically connected to the storage material.

An integrated electronic circuit includes a plurality of active circuits connected together in cascade. A feedback loop is between an output of a last active circuit and an input of a first active circuit so that the plurality of active devices function as a non-linear device, such as an inductor. The integrated electronic circuit may be integrated or used in association with a circuit network including other non-linear devices.

The two sampling channels each comprise an analog-to-digital converter and a Viterbi detector arranged in series and operating according to sampling sequences that alternate with one another.

Apparatus and method for processing a data signal from a magnetic-media

A finite-state machine has combinatorial logic connected to a status memory which receives future state signals from the finite-state machine and sends current state signals to the finite-state machine. The combinatorial logic also receives and generates input and output signals which are external to the finite-state machine. The finite-state machine compares the future state signals to at least one reference level to set an error message to reset the finite-state machine for reliable computing and adjustment.
