An apparatus used in terminating and winding coils of a core of a dynamo electric machine. The coils being formed from at least an electric wire and the core having a longitudinal axis. The coils are wound by relatively moving a wire dispenser with respect to a core with relative motions of translation and rotation; at least a stretch of wire extends from the coil; and the stretch of wire is provided with a portion for a termination connection to a termination structure of the core, such as a tang. The method avoids waste cut wire in the apparatus. The core is provided with a groove at an end to receive at least a wire in the path of the wire for the termination of the coils. The apparatus comprises a wire deflector positioned adjacent the end of the core, where the groove is located, in order to intercept and align the wire with the groove. The apparatus can comprise a device for applying torques in two directions on a pulley wheel for feeding wire as a function of the position of the dispenser in the translation and the position of the core in the rotations.

An apparatus terminates and winds coils of a core of a dynamo electric machine. The coils are formed from at least an electric wire and the core has a longitudinal axis. The apparatus includes a wire dispenser which translates and rotates with respect to a core to wind the coils. At least a stretch of wire extends from the coil; and the stretch of wire includes a portion for a termination connection to a termination structure of the core, such as a tang terminal. The core has a groove at an end to receive at least a wire in the path of the wire to terminate the coils. The apparatus comprises a wire deflector positioned adjacent the end of the core, where the groove is located, in order to intercept and align the wire with the groove. The apparatus avoids waste cut wire.

Apparatus and method for winding at least one electric wire W on a coil support () of a core of a dynamo electric by using a wire dispensing member () means () for rotating the coil support with respect to the dispensing member (). It is foreseen to provide a relative movement of the dispensing member () with respect to the coil support () to maintain the angular orientation constant during winding. An axis of reference (&#x2032;) for the relative translation of the dispensing member () is positioned parallel and shifted with respect to the longitudinal axis (H&#x2032;) of the core or coincident with the longitudinal axis (H&#x2032;) of the core. The rotation axis (&#x2032;) is inclined with an angle that is not at 90&#xb0; with respect to the dispensing member. In particular the rotation axis (&#x2032;) is inclined by an angle of 45 degrees with respect to the dispensing member () and the rotation axis (&#x2032;) intersects the exit of the conductor during the rotation.

Apparatus for forming wire coil leads that depart from wire coils inserted into a dynamo-electric machine component is provided. A plurality of wire coils may be received on an insertion tool. A wire lead may be anchored at a location on the insertion tool. A wire coil corresponding to the wire lead may encircle the location in a plane of the insertion tool. None of the plurality of wire coils preferably surmounts a first portion of the wire lead anchored at the location. In some embodiments, a template for winding the wire coils may be provided that has a seat portion on the underside of the template. The seat portion may receive a wire lead such that the lead is aligned with the anchoring location on the insertion tool.

Apparatus for wire coil lead placement in machinery for producing dynamo electric machine components

Apparatus and methods for forming wire coil leads that depart from wire coils inserted into a dynamo-electric machine component are provided. A plurality of wire coils may be received on an insertion tool. A wire lead may be anchored at a location on the insertion tool. A wire coil corresponding to the wire lead may encircle the location in a plane of the insertion tool. In accordance with the present invention, none of the plurality of wire coils may surmount a first portion of the wire lead anchored at the location. In some embodiments, a template for winding the wire coils may be provided that has a seat portion on the underside of the template. The seat portion may receive a wire lead such that the lead is aligned with the anchoring location on the insertion tool.

Apparatus and methods for wire coil lead placement

The present invention concerns solutions for disposing the wire leads of a wire coil along trajectories that have predetermined positional references relative to the dynamo-electric machine component. The present invention proposes to provide a wire lead manipulator that operates to dispose the wire lead by entering within extremely narrow gaps on a dynamo-electric machine component at high speed and with a lower risk of the wire lead manipulator colliding with the accessory parts of the component. Using the solutions of this invention, these achievements are possible for dynamo-electric machine components with very small spaces between accessory components that do not allow the passage of conventional wire lead manipulator apparatus.

Wire manipulator methods and apparatus for dynamo-electric machine coil winding

Methods and apparatus for terminating dynamoelectric machine component wire coil leads in situ in automated wire coil winding machines are provided. A shape-forming wire-termination fixture is disposed about the front face of the dynamoelectric machine component. After the wire coils have been wound, a movable wire gripper is used to grasp and manipulate the starting and ending wire leads of the wound coils one at a time. The wire leads are terminated by deforming them around the wire-termination fixture to form freestanding geometrical patterns in them. Machine component-holding pick and place devices may be used to remove components with terminated wire leads from the winding machine for further processing.

Manufacturing methods and apparatus for terminating dynamo-machine component wire coil leads

In systems for winding wire on electrodynamic machine stators, stators may be transferred between stator conveyance apparatus, winding shroud installation and removal apparatus, wire winding apparatus, wire lead termination apparatus, or other apparatus. Some transfer devices may secure stators in housings fixed to arms that may be rotated around an axis to move stators between stations. Some transfer devices may have stator grasping devices that may be rotated and translated to move stators between stations. Wire winding shrouds may be secured to a stator to facilitate winding and released from stator after wire is wound on the stator. A device for securing shrouds to the stator may be fixed to the stator and may remain fixed to the stator during transfer between different apparatus. Some devices for securing shrouds and stators may be integrated into housings. Some housings may be fixed to transfer devices along one side of the housing.
