A lighting system includes a plurality of lighting system elements. The lighting system elements include a luminaire and a reporting device. The luminaire includes a light source to emit illumination light. The reporting device includes a reporting device network communication interface system for network communication, a reporting device processor, a reporting device memory, and reporting device programming in the reporting device memory. Execution of the reporting device programming causes the respective reporting device to collect a respective performance metric of a respective luminaire and submits a respective claim including the respective performance metric to one or more storage devices. A respective storage device validates a plurality of claims, including the respective claim. The storage device stores the subset or all of the plurality of claims in a block in at least one storage device of the one or more storage devices. The block includes a lighting value token.

Networked lighting control system with lighting value tracking protocol

A luminaire or lighting control device includes a network interface with a transceiver configured for communication via a lighting control network for lighting control and systems operations. The device can include a light source to emit illumination lighting, a driver circuit to control operation of the light source, and a power supply. The device includes a processor coupled to the network interface, and a memory accessible to the processor that stores a battery level threshold. The device includes programming in the memory. Execution of the programming by the processor configures the device to implement the following functions. First, the device receives a lighting control message. Second, the device determines a battery level of a power switch. Finally, in response to the battery level of the power switch being less than the battery level threshold, the device controls the luminaire or another luminaire to enter a low battery mode.

Disclosed are various embodiments for translating broadcast messages in a network device. The network device obtains a configuration for translating a destination address of a specified type of broadcast message to a different destination address. A broadcast message is received that matches the specified type. A multicast message is generated based upon the broadcast message and the configuration. A multicast address used as a destination for the multicast message corresponds to the multicast address for a group of network nodes specified by the configuration. The multicast message is transmitted from one or more network interfaces associated with the multicast address for the group of network nodes. The multicast message includes the instruction for the group of network nodes.

Disclosed are various embodiments for translating multicast messages in a network device. The network device obtains a configuration for translating a destination address of a specified type of multicast message to a different destination address. A multicast message is received that matches the specified type. A broadcast message is generated based upon the multicast message and the configuration, where the broadcast address used as a destination for the broadcast message corresponds to the broadcast address for a group of network nodes specified by the configuration. Multicast message translation in a network device

A DMX512 network may include two gateway devices or two ports of a single gateway device, which are connected to a number of DMX512 devices. Under normal operating conditions, one gateway device or one port transmits and the other gateway device or the other port receives DMX512 frames. If there is a connection failure, then both gateway devices or both ports may transmit DMX512 frames. Once the connection is restored, the system may detect the restoration and one of the gateway devices or one of the ports ceases to transmit DMX512 frames.
