The subject technology provides a method and apparatus for performing dual track routing. A pair of signal traces is routed in between two rows of contacts and at least one of the signal traces is modified to satisfy a routing restriction. The modification of the signal trace includes three trace segments that deviate the signal trace away from the source of the routing restriction.

Techniques for optimizing dual track routing

A rack mounting kit is configured to allow mounting of a telecommunications equipment chassis into a rack by a single person. The rack mounting kit includes two complimentary brackets that form a shelf-like feature. The complimentary brackets also include a mating latch for interfacing with a chassis to secure the chassis in place. Additionally, a cross brace is provided that is removably installed onto the two complimentary brackets to provide additionally rigidity to a rack while a chassis is being installed. The cross brace can be removed once installation of the chassis is complete.

Various example embodiments are disclosed. According to one example embodiment, a small form factor pluggable (SFP or SFP+) module may include an equalizer and a logic controller. The equalizer may be configured to receive data, provide signal information to a logic controller based on the received data, equalize the data based on equalization instructions received from the logic controller, and transmit the equalized data. The logic controller may be configured to transmit the signal information received from the equalizer receive programming instructions provide the equalization instructions to the equalizer based on the programming instructions, receive control inputs associated with the data, and provide status outputs based on the control inputs and the programming instructions. The SFP or SFP+ module may be configured to plug into a small form factor (SFF) host connector.

A method and apparatus provide an IP telephone or similar device with a mechanism to receive and at least briefly loop back discovery signals received from a telecommunications device such as an Ethernet switch while not permitting the loop back of data packet signals. No mechanical relays are required and the circuitry can be fully integrated on an integrated circuit using commonly available techniques, if desired.

Unpowered twisted pair loopback circuit for differential mode signaling

A network node determines the suitability of coupled devices for being remotely line powered before actually powering them. The node scan its ports to determine which ports are coupled to devices. The node then interrogates the coupled devices. A unique discovery tone or bit pattern is generated and sent to devices coupled to ports. The node then monitors the port for a return signal. If there is a return signal, it is compared to the transmitted discovery signal. The signal will be identical after allowing for line losses if the coupled device is suitable for remote line powering. If the comparison yields a match, the network node supplies remote line power to the device.

Method and apparatus for remote powering of device connected to network

Each modular processor card of a modular electronic system carries a component defining its maximum current or power requirements. The component, which may be a resistor, capacitor, serial access memory, or the like, is accessible over a single conductor through a backplane by a power supervisor. The supervisor will determine the current/power requirements of a processor card while the card is substantially powered off. The supervisor may then weigh existing power supply resources of the modular electronic system with existing current/power demand and make a decision to allow power-up of the card if sufficient overhead is available, or, alternatively, make a decision to deny power-up of the card if insufficient additional current/power resources are available. An optional message indicating the outcome of the decision can be transmitted to a user. If the supervisor elects to power up the card, a signal sent on the conductor connecting the card to the supervisor may be used to authorize the card to power up and control circuitry to effect the power up.

Power management system for modular electronics

An Ethernet device power transmission system includes an input transformer, an output transformer and a pair of twisted pair conductors. The input transformer includes a pair of primaries for connection to a source of Ethernet data. The input transformer also includes a pair of secondaries, each having a center-tap. A first twisted pair conductor is connected across the first secondary, a second twisted pair conductor is connected across the second secondary and a DC-bias is provided between the respective center taps of the first and second secondaries. At the local end, the output transformer includes a first and second center-tapped primary and a first and second secondary for connection to the load device. The first and second primary center taps are connected to a power processor for extraction of DC power.

A media independent interface (MII) is utilized on each processor card of a multi-processor card system in a carrier sense multiple access/collision detection (CSMA/CD) standard bus configuration to provide a data communications bus. This permits standard Media Access Control (MAC) devices to be used with the MII. The collision domain is implemented by having each active processor card using the data communications bus assert an analog signal on a single conductor of the back plane and sense its voltage value to determine if one or more processor cards are currently accessing the bus.
